Am am I able to order regular black cover and then - have the red shipped to dealer and replace the cover ?
Not not sure how it works ?
Me either, exactly. But from the order guide the Engine Appearance Package looks not to include different colors, so I assume it will be the standard black color. Then for color I’d wait and add the accessory red/silver later or paint as suggested above.
Wouldn’t it be just easier to order like the other gentlemen said and then just have them pop off other and replace with new red one when I can get then mess around and spray paint it ??
I want this one if it is standard OEM. Then swap with added cash for an after market one painted red, etc. This should be available almost from day one after initial deliveries.
^^^^^^ After looking at the pic above I posted it looks like a spray can paint job by me at least would not turn out too well with all the nooks and crannies of that engine cover. Me, I’d leave it to an aftermarket pro.
There is no reasonable explanation for late availability of the red engine cover save one. It is much easier to build the first cars as close to alike as possible. Fewer part options to stage on the production line, quicker pass through, more money for GM. When the initial glut is sated, the late availability miraculously disappears which will drive new sales of those on the sidelines waiting. Then comes Z06, Grand Sport, Z51 constraints go off, etc. Drips and drabs. Smart those guys at GM.
Right, it's an aerosol spray paint with a ball inside which "rattles" when you shake the can to mix the paint. A very nice job can be done with these, under the right conditions and with a little practice.
Looking closer at the pic of what appears to be the std black engine cover note that the black C8 logo may be removable and hopefully if true there is a replacement in color, maybe even the one on the hood would work? If so, i’d Just do that replacement at least initially.
