My point was: if you want a luxury car, buy a Caddy or Mercedes. Does the caddy have the motor, aluminum frame, or performance of the Corvette? No. You're paying for different things in a Corvette. I'd rather my 70 or 80K pay for performance than more gadgets.

Does the $25K car have 495 HP, and all aluminum frame, a 195 mph top speed, or 0-60 in 3 seconds? The Corvette is a performance car, not a luxury car. As you point out, if those features are so important to you, there are many cars for you to choose from.

And my point was that, "It seems that Corvette would offer one or both as options." And a CTS-V has a 640- hp Corvette engine under the hood.

It makes it difficult to see if you can make a lane change. Do they dim when you are behind other traffic? Unless you are nearly blind, I can't see why you need high beams if you aren't on a very dark road.
Yes, they dim when they see taillights in front of you too. We have them on our GMC Sierra truck. We live out in the country so roads are pitch black at night and high beams are pretty much required when driving the posted speed limit, 70mph. Low beams just don’t reach out far enough. The auto high beams are really a neat feature and work extremely well. Sure, you can manage the high beams manually, but an auto system is a real value to us.

if you want a luxury car, buy a Caddy or Mercedes.
You can get corvette like performance from a luxury 4 door Mercedes. The fastest 0 to 60 stock Mercedes right now is the e63s, a sedan. Mercedes quotes 0 to 60 in 3.3. Car and Driver quotes following

At our test track, our E63 S test vehicle ripped to 60 mph in just 3.0 seconds; that's break-neck speeds for sure, but the E63's nemesis, the BMW M5, returned an even quicker result of 2.8 seconds.
Both of the above vehicles have 4 wheel drive which makes a huge difference from a 0 start. The grippy advantage is lost from a roll. Of course, neither will turn heads or offer the sports car driving experience of a Corvette

Some folks are going to be paying upwards of $90k for a C8 so it just seemed silly to me not to at least offer maybe a Convenience Package for features that are available in cars with MSRP's in the $20k's... I get the whole purist driver's car thing but long gone are the days of ordering your car without air conditioning and power steering to get the maximum performance... I'm pretty sure that GM will add some of this stuff in the next few model years... Imagine buying the top of the line iPhone only to find out that it won't run some of the apps you can run on a $250 MotoG phone...

I have had adaptive cruise and generally did not like it unless on a two lane with few passing opportunities. Not too fond of the early crash avoidance (no self braking) I had either, it would sometimes "alert" on roadside features prior to making a curve.

Did you see the recent news article about the Tesla in Russia somewhere that crashed while on whatever kind of "autopilot" Elon is putting in his cars? It exploded and burst into flame (odd for an electric vehicle don't you think?) but if I recall correctly, everyone got out safe. When cars start driving themselves, any cars not just sprots cars in particular, I hope my time in a vertical position has passed. Lane hold and autopark are just some of the first steps down that slippery slope for me.

In other words, I am more than happy with the safety/convenience additions Chevrolet provided C7 to C8 (at least on 2LT+).
The above bolded sentence started a long time ago and the slope is getting much steeper. Like the lack of a manual trans, there'll come a time when you don't have a key, and you don't drive your car. It may not look feasible now, but it is. All these "options" are to make a "driver" feel comfortable now, as they slowly reach the point of no longer driving.

I never understood why the C6 never had rear view cameras at least in the later years, or an updated NAV system. After 2010 practically every vehicle, even the sub $20,000 vehicles had both.

Price shouldn't determine what is or is not included in a car; the car's purpose or mission should determine what features it has.

An example of nannies encouraging poor driving practices. I rest my case.

https://abc7.com/video-appears-to-sh...n-i-5/5488646/

This is essentially a combination of auto braking/ crash avoidance, lane keeping, and adaptive cruise. All things discussed as missing from the Corvette.
