I'm not really complaining but for the $7,300 upgrade to a 2LT there are some features I think they could have added that you see standard or available on much lower priced cars...
Adaptive Cruise
Crash Alert and avoidance
Lane keep
Rain Sensing Wipers
Remote Start
The are the standard key fobs with remote start. Minus the convertible top button. Of course, they also give away the fact that there will be a convertible.
Im with you on the other options. My 2017 Cruze Premier, Hatchback commuter, has lane keep assist and collision alert, and automatic high beams

And when the C7 came out many were complaining that it didn't have blind spot and cross path detection.
I have had adaptive cruise and generally did not like it unless on a two lane with few passing opportunities. Not too fond of the early crash avoidance (no self braking) I had either, it would sometimes "alert" on roadside features prior to making a curve.
Did you see the recent news article about the Tesla in Russia somewhere that crashed while on whatever kind of "autopilot" Elon is putting in his cars? It exploded and burst into flame (odd for an electric vehicle don't you think?) but if I recall correctly, everyone got out safe. When cars start driving themselves, any cars not just sprots cars in particular, I hope my time in a vertical position has passed. Lane hold and autopark are just some of the first steps down that slippery slope for me.
In other words, I am more than happy with the safety/convenience additions Chevrolet provided C7 to C8 (at least on 2LT+).
Rain sensing wipers and auto high beams are the only things that seems odd to be missing at this point.
I wouldn't pay a dime for auto wipers or auto high beams. I think anyone can sense it is raining, and just flick the lever to turn on the wipers. And I'm not even sure what auto high beams do. Does the car know you can't see well on a very dark road then turns on the high beams? Again any driver can just push the lever to turn on the high beams when necessary.
Your list, his list, their list.. IF GM added all the things all the other car have... They would have to name a different level of Corvette.... THE ZL TANK... For the guys that have to have it all... Starting at $169,999.. coming in at a mere 6,458 pounds..

I use Rain X and unless it's pouring I never use my wipers the water just rolls off.... I had auto wipe on one of my trucks.. Always had the "wiper" look because the damn thing would wipe for a mist...

tesla like to catch fire, my wife works for worlds biggest auto auction and they had one randomly catch fire in the underground garage and they had to abandon their 30 floor building for a week while engineers examined the building. Since then I know a few people that wont park them in their garages at home. Same goes for Lith Ion batteries in planes, the airlines and myself worry a lot about this, so much so the airlines now want all Lion batteries in the cabin so if one does catch fire at least they can deal with it. I even have snap on battery covers for my power tool batteries, I had a battery fall in the screw bin and it caught fire in mins with shorted terminal. I treat these like propane tanks where everything should be fine if used correctly, but keep them at safe distance just incase...
Not a fan of rain sensor wipers. I’ve had them on other vehicles. Once while on a road trip across US, doing some serious “Bug Hunting” I mean the wind shield looked like it had fur on it. I ran out of wiper wash fluid, no service station for the next 20 miles. The bugs got thick enough to trip the auto sensor...
”Dead Bug Smear” visibility was almost not existent. Just saying lol !
my 15 focus has the auto high beams. Damn thing crack me up. I used them for a few minutes and on canyon carving it works perfectly. it detects other car lights and drops the high beams.. BUT on long ,open ,straight roads where it should be cake the damn thing will flash on and off randomly. I almost got nailed by police thinking I was crazy. I took it in to Ford 2 times and its the same. I gave up on that feature. lol

Add these and starting price point goes over $59k.
Believe it or not, that’s probably why not included.

Same here on the adaptive cruise control. Nothing better than having the brakes slammed on because the sensor picked up a kid on an ATV in the field next to the fence. Never again.

I'm with you on the wipers.
But my wife's car has auto high beams, and it's my favorite feature of the car by far. To use them, you put the headlights into auto mode (I normally have them in manual mode, to keep them from coming on when I don't want them). Once in auto mode, you just turn on the high beams and forget about them. When there is traffic ahead of you, or oncoming traffic, they switch back to low beams. When traffic is clear, they go back to high beams.
If you are on a dark, curvy road with them in auto high beam mode and your hands on the wheel in a turn, you'll have the high beams until another car suddenly appears as you go around a corner. They will switch to low beams much quicker than you can get your hand back to the stalk, and then when the oncoming car goes by, they'll switch back to high beams.
Of course, if they put the high beam switch back on the floor, where it belongs, then auto high beams would be less important.
I took a trip to visit family. Got a rental car at the airport that had the lane keep feature. I didn't know the car had it. Was driving on the freeway at 12am. While approaching an 18 wheeler i tried to make a lane change. The nanny pulled me back into the lane behind the truck. Scary stuff. I feel like if i were in a situation and had to make a defensive maneuver, it wouldn't turn out so well.
Don't want that feature on any of my cars.
