Have you never owned a black vehicle? It takes a little more work to keep it clean, and things like swirl marks tend to be more apparent in the light. When it gets dirty (which happens quickly) the black loses its lustre and looks kind of matte/gray. Otherwise it's largely the same as any other color.
Touchups are probably the easiest of any color.

Owned several black cars. Won't again. However, a black metallic was much easier to deal with.
If you do decide black, a good, professional ceramic coat job can do wonders.
Takes no more effort (anyone telling you different is lazy or never owned one). I wash my ALL
cars once a week (that wouldn't change no matter color), and put on a good polish, Xpel, you're done.

My fifth black vehicle, to me, just as easy to keep clean as any other color. 45K on clock, drive in rain often, hose off, wipe down, throw some Adams on it, looks purty.
Black cars being a Corvette or not are a nightmare to keep shiny and clean, that is why i love my Blade Silver C6.
Given detailing is my hobby, I find any black or dark colored car a pleasure to clean, polish, and wax. Most of the joy I got from my black 1997 C5 was in shining it up. As I mentioned in my introduction post, I had tons of problems with that car, but this C8 has me back with a lot of enthusiasm. I would also guess many on this forum would have their C8 ceramic coated, which makes it much easier to keep clean.
I've had a black C6, and C7, and my C8 is ordered in black with the adrenaline red interior. It's a bit more difficult to keep clean, but ooh mama, when it's clean!
(Full disclosure, I've also owned a black DB9, F-Pace for the wife, and two Mustangs in black)
I have a black C7 and I wash it every weekend. It's a pain but it's worth it. Black is honestly the best and meanest looking color ever. Getting my C8 in black too but going to get it ceramic coated right off the bat. That will make it so much easier to wash it and keep off rock chips, scratches, etc. After I saw the C8 in black, I was sold.
I have owned several black cars. Some cars appear to be the best color of all! (Black that is)
Other cars do not show as well in black with respect to showing the lines and accents. I think the C8 falls into this category. The sides and hood lines seem to blend in too much in black. The black accents are lost and the car starts to look to monotone for my preference. That said, color is personal choice. I do love black with red interior so that adds nice contrast.
Good luck, I like the blade silver with all the nice black accents and really visible lines...
Keeping up black cars is way over blown. Nothing looks better when clean. To keep any paint free from scratches take some care, but no more than other colors.
I think every car looks better in Black.

I've had many black vehicles--two at the moment--including a black '18 for two years. It is no different than anything else, other than medium gray, perhaps. It takes the same time to wash, clay-bar, and wax as anything else. It does show finger-prints, though.
As for a C8, I would get black, the same as the C7 and for the same reason... it best hides all the stuck-on looking "stuff" all over the car.
I have a C7 Black.I need to wipe it off every morning.I will also be getting A C8 that is black.Don’t get me wrong the other colors look fine but when black is shining it’s hard to beat.
I've had many black vehicles since I was a yonker..including an '84 Corvette..Doug Nash 4+3 manual transmission Graphite interior..Recently I just sold my 2015 Silverado short bed "Blackout"edition...Put it in many shows down here in SW Florida..That black was gorgeous when kept clean..I'm saving for a C8...I've see the black C8 and I'm sold...just tint those windows to keep the sun off the interior and add as much Carbon fiber as I can afford.!!
