Default C8 versions

There has been a lot of discussion about numerous C8 versions as has existed in past models such as the
Base, Gran Sport, Z06, and ZR1. They seem to feel that there will be the same for the C8.

Just to throw out a different perspective, there will only be two versions of the C8. You will have the base Stingray and, at a later date, a performance version. Base will be available with the Z51 option. The base is also available with the fender hash marks that was a defining part of the GS. If the GS was coming back those would not be available on the base model. The performance model, what it will be called is anyone’s guess, may be a wide body with bigger tires, maybe a DOHC TT engine, and suspension upgrades. That performance version may ultimately have an option for electric FWD, but that will just be an option, not a separate model.

So two versions of the C8, base and performance. Basic keep it simple philosophy.

That philosophy has only been for the past couple of generations. No indication that it will continue that I have seen.

Why would GM change a working philosophy that has been great for 2 generations now? You people act like the world is ending because the engine is behind the seats. What's next, do we go into reverse when we want to go forward because the engine is in the back?

”You people “ ??? What the heck you talking about? This thread is about versions that that will be available, nothing about the engine placement. Maybe you got your threads that you were responding to mixed up. I personally love the ME configuration and love the new C8.

It's possible there will be fewer models... as we may not see a "wide body" version as we've gotten used to. The car is already wider and longer. The Audi r8 and Ferrari 488 both use 245/305 tire setups.... which is what the c8 has.

I think that it's going to depend entirely on how they sell.

I would imagine that the base and a performance version are planned for sure. My impression on the sidelines is that the GS for the C6 was put together with some parts from the Z06 to boost mid-generation sales. I haven't followed the C7, so I don't know if it's similar (versus whether the GS was out right away with that generation). If the C8 base meets their sales goals, then my suspicion is that they wouldn't need to do a GS.

Of course, I could be completely wrong. I've not really been following the forum closely for a long time now.
