Remember he's talking about the C8 top, not the removeable hardtop on earlier Corvettes. Those DO in fact weigh about 60 pounds .I can't imagine the new C8 removable top weighs more than 15-16 pounds or so watching the GM reps moving it around at the shows, and placing it in & out of the rear trunk. Looked pretty light to me.
Thing you have to watch out for is WIND. You have a sail in your hands when the top is in transit from vehicle to trunk area. Painted
top listed at 14.5 lbs.
Spoke with a Corvette Concierge. She said standard top is 16lbs with the carbon fiber top being 2lbs less. She said it is easily removed by one person.

Reason: Spelling
I'm not sure who the someone was as I watch a lot of C8 you tube and forums. One Guess (bad memory here) could be the chevy dude, but he's generally very reliable, so unlikely.

the top is EASILY handled by one person....as its slightly smaller than the C7's, and its easily removed by one person, I only have one good arm and I can manage my C7's top by myself with no problem. If you have an issue, you can always get one of these, it works like a champ and is good for up to 1000 lbs. I got it on amazon and was recommended from a member here some time ago.
Alll three top options are in the 15-16 lb range. In one video someone made the observation that a drawback to a high wing spoiler is that you have to lean over it to put the top in or take it out.
I lifted one easily at the local C8 event yesterday morning. 16lbs sounds about right. It should be no problem lifting it over the trunk w or w/o spoiler to drop into trunk. It is actually quite small in length, so easy to handle. Only issue might be driver height/reach to lift the roof over the rear end.

You remove and install the top standing next to the door. No one would try to do it from the rear. Nobody.
I was referring to placing it INTO/REMOVING it out of the trunk. There was a fellow trying to pull it out and dragged it over the rear spoiler. I agree nobody would remove it off of the car from behind.
