Matt Farrah aint exactly the best driver, so keep that in mind. Someone asking above, if he is just a youtuber...well, he is a youtuber for sure (Smoking Tire), but he started out in NYC with Superspeeders and some other outlets. He kind of just grew with a circle of journalists all doing their own thing. He is on a show now as well. He's ok...I tend to think he is a bit of a douche though.
I agree, he's a typical L.A. type - he can be OK on the youtube reviews, but his podcasts are douche central. Everything falls apart when he talks about things other than cars for more than 10 minutes. He's firmly in that car journalist group that you can easily identify by their age and that they look like they have never been able to do a single push-up in their lives.

No, that Parker kid on Vehicle Virgins is a douche. "Self made" of daddy's money. One of the most punchable faces I've ever seen in my life.
At least Farah admits he's not the best driver out there. Mostly. More of a case of I know my way around driving but a pro, I am not. But far from a casual HPDE driver.
As far as his pod casts go, they're hit or miss. But it's for entertainment purposes. It's not going to appeal to everyone.

I’m a bit let down by the sound. A little sewing machine like. Definitely needs to be uncorked in my opinion.
My rankings for sound only. I think I’m waiting and holding out hope for a flat plane NA track monster.
1st LS3
2nd LT1
3rd LT2

GM has stated the LT2 C8 is the loudest exhaust ever put on a modern Corvette other than the C7 ZR1. It's going to be louder than the LS3 and LT1.

Don’t want to put you on the spot, but there’s more than a few casual reference about Farrah being either a d*ck or douche? Is this based on his YouTube persona or is he really a douche?
I’m assuming he was under orders from Chevrolet not to drive the car flat out. It looked more like he was running at about 5-6/10ths (for him). I also assume he or Road & Track cleared releasing this “teaser” ahead of the embargo; neither would risk their livelihoods for this low-key tour around a track.
UPDATE: This is from the Road & Track website:
”We had a number of special guests at the test this year to help with judging. One contributor, Matt Farah of The Smoking Tire, filmed a number of videos that we're excited to share with you, including this one of the C8.
Now, before the armchair driver coaching begins, a few caveats. These are Matt's first sighting laps at Thunderhill West and his first time in the car. They are not timed, they are not flat out, not every shift is run to redline, not every line is perfect. Matt also doesn't speak, so don't expect this to be any sort of review. But the video does let you listen to the LT2 V8 for a few minutes, which should be worth your time...”

I run around with a Borla X pipe and muffler delete. They all sound to corked in stock trim for me lol. That said, the tune just does not sound as mean or nasty. The reason I love he LS3 is port injection with the associated snap, crackle, and pop. Which I prefer over the LT2 direct injection. I think a flatplane will solve most of my personal sounds wants.
Just seems like he is short shifting the car 75% of the time.
I wouldn't be so sure. Here are some comments left by Matt Farah, the driver, on reddit in response to some questions.
User: "Sounds pretty good. What's with the short-shifting and the understeer? I mean, maybe Matt is just pushing the front a bit harder than it should be somehow but... huh."
Matt: "Not short shifting. Short redline. Same as all the other LT based engines. Moving it to the back doesn’t change that."
User: "It really didn’t seem like you were even getting above 6000 in the video Matt. I’m quite used to winding out an LT motor and it just seemed to low to me. I mean, you were driving, you would know. Just didn’t sound like it was being rung out on the video."
Matt: "As I have said before, this isn't "wrung out." You are literally watching a video of the very first time I drove the car, and I think my third lap of that track ever. I was going very easy, learning the car, and learning the track. But there are multiple occasions in the video where I do run the car to the redline."
