Uh, more like $40K - $50K. I sold my 5 year old 2014 C7 convertible (paid $61,500 out the door In April 2014, sold it in April 2019) back to the dealer I bought it from for $38K (61.7% of the original purchase price). No question jacking ANY car with options totaling over HALF the base MSRP is a bad move in terms of re-sale VALUE, but there's NO way a "normal" C8 (one that doesn't have $40K in OPTIONS) is going to depreciate that much. Now, the $100K C8....that owner is going to get HOSED at trade in time.
Isn’t this thread about the purchase of a $100k C8? Hence my comments....

Adding $40K in options to a $200K car is one thing, but to a $60K car is another. That's nearly 70% of the base price. So yes, that $100K C8 will likely be hit hard by depreciation.
Does everybody on here buy cars every two or three years and trade in their cars all the time?!? I’m really confused by this forum at times. I thought that people buy vettes and hang onto them, like forever. And I also thought most first year buyers are wanting a first year as a collectible more than a daily driver? This buy it and trade it and discussion of all the exotic car one-upmanship is just depressing personally. I’m getting my C8 to own until I die. And I’m getting it to take my beautiful wife out on weekends or to a nice dinner. Not to schlep back and forth to work in and show off just long enough for the oohs and ahah to wear off before I realize I need a newer toy. And no, I’m not 65. I’m in my 40s. Are there really so few forum people who are like me?!? I’m gonna be thrilled with my base model 3LT with 20k in options. I will still admire all of you in your Grand Sports, Z06s and ZR1s, and give you a proper corvette wave. Hope you wave back and don’t forget there are guys like me - who uncompromisingly got exactly the car we always wanted!
Thanks Phil1098, I actually was shocked how many people do that, especially with the 911 and Jaguar. Guess I’m gonna be the exception to the modern trend!
The base convertible is a $67.5K. A 2LT, Z51 with mag ride and front lift comes to $83k. Upgrade the seats, paint color, and wheels it becomes close to $90k. I'm guessing the last $10k must be a lot of bling unless the OP included TTL in the $100k.

You're not alone, I was a little wide eyed when it popped up. I would not have figured it would have made the list, but it did. What I would like to see is the numbers of those that got rid of them in the first year, were they first time sports car buyers? Was the purchase one that they always dreamed of getting, and once they had it, the reality was just completely different from what they expected?
