Last August I placed my order for a black C8 with my local dealer. Not the biggest dealer but he said he had 6 allocations for the 2020 C8. He said I had one of his quaranteed allocations. I put down a $5000 deposit. I recently asked for a status update on my order since I've noticed many on this forum have attained 3000 status. His reply was, "No status yet...Orders are being picked up slowly for dealers...."
Does this make sense given that I placed my order with him in August? Thanks!
6 allocations is a very small dealer. Those 6 allocations are for the entire year. So far, there has only been 2 order cycles (Sep and Dec). Your dealer may have gotten 1 total for those 2 cycles, or possibly none. If you are number 5 or 6 on his list, you most likely will NOT get a 2020. If you are number 1 or 2 you may get your order accepted in Jan or Feb.
You really need to find out what number you are on his list.
A major dealer has stated on this forum that his best guess is that anything beyond the 75% mark of the total allocations will be 2021.

So, of my 238, 178(plus VIP's) will be 2020's and tyhe balance will be 21's.

Hope this helps. Please reach out if you have any questions.

Lawdogg.......I’m right with you at my dealer. He was told before the strike he had 5 for this model year. I’m number 2 and both mine and #1 are just sitting in the system. He believes one or both may be pulled in January.
I could not resist a good deal so went with the smaller dealer and gave up a prime spot with bigger dealer.
Car will be built soon, just not as soon as others.
If you end up being Q4 with your dealership (mine is doing a lottery with their 80 spots so everyone is left guessing) and getting a 2021 I assume you would be paying any increase in pricing for the 2021? Makes me wonder if I should reach out to other dealers out of state that still have allotments available. I would assume shipping costs would be less than the price increase the car will see next year.

I'm in the same boat with a smaller dealer. I was #3 when I put in my deposit in July. They just got their 2nd allocation in the December cycle and are only expecting 5 or 6 total for the year. They kept saying that GM is taking care of their larger Corvette dealers first, which I understand, and the smaller ones just get what they get. Luckily one person in front of me punted their allocation down the line to me and I got my order picked up. It was frustrating to see so many posting about their allocations and you're just waiting when you've got such a low number "at your dealer".
My dealership is getting 5 cars for the year, and he got 3 picked up in December (including mine)
After looking at some of the TPW threads...many of us have orders from small dealerships....
Maybe they try to spread them out throughout the country for exposure?
Yes, a SRE order (Retail Sold) at 1100 or above is price protected (provided NO changes are made to the order - if you make a change, price protection starts from that point). However, any order that does not get built for the model year it is entered for becomes void at the end of that model year order cycles. It will have to be re-entered as a new order for the next model year at the then current prices.
Again, so much incorrect information. MacMulkin definitely has some 2020 slots left available. The guidelines that Chevy gave dealers was for 2020 calendar year - not model year. What makes you think larger dealers will get a "larger percentage of their allocations"? The fact is that the percentage will be as evenly distributed as possible based on the total number a dealer has (since a "micro" dealer can't get a fractional car their percentage could be smaller).

Everyone, reread Zymurgy’s opinion again. THE LAST SENTENCE, as I believe it to be true. My dealer is small with 18 C8 allocations for 2020, I believe 4 have been picked up, or about to, to date. I placed my order on day one and it was their first assigned at 1100 with a PRIORITY 1. At 3000 since 09/24/2019 and now with a TPW of 02/17. For small Chevy dealers you will be more successful the closer you are to the front of their allocations, IN PERCENTAGE TO THE BIG DEALERS.

absolutely! Why is everyone saying things they have no idea about. I have a close friend in LA in the distribution and sales end for GM and he cant tell me anything definite yet. I have a convertible ordered with no 1 allocation out of 5 from a small dealer who still has the other 4 open. His best guess is convertible starts production in very late march to early April. Mine being first wave should get picked up in January and sit until its gets a TPW assigned. So i hope to get it mid May, but this is entirely an assumption. We’ll all know more by end-of month.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't there been 1-2 allocation dates every single month? If that continues, I'm sure everyone's order will be picked up and delivered by the end of 2020.
