Default Vert engine appearance

Haven't posted in quite some time, but with my C8 convertible on order hope to participate more. Since the engine on the vert is not exposed and is hidden under a heat shield does anybody know if it will be lacking in the 'appearance goodies' of the coupe or will it be the same? Thanks

The engine appearance package is only available with the coupe.

Thanks, but I'm not referring to the optional appearance package I just mean the stock look of the engine. Didn't know if GM would 'cheap out' on general look of the engine due to the fact it will be hidden.

I tried to upload a picture of my order from the configurator but was unable to. Is that because I need to hit a minimum number of posts first to be able to do that?

Gotcha...I doubt it has the engine cover that the coupe has.

Nah probably just an issue with the site. Try uploading your image to imgur and then embedding the link.

We've not seen any pictures of what's under the heat shield on the convertible, but I'd be surprised if GM spent money on an appearance item that people will never see.

I think they will be the same. I don't see them using two different engine assemblies. The only "appearance item" would be the engine cover which also serves as sound insulation. Perhaps redundant with the convertible entire engine bay cover.

You can't upload from the configurator directly. Save the configurator image to your disk drive and then upload it to the forum from there.

Got it! Here's a configurator pic. In past years when people would ask me if I was going to buy a NEW Vette I would always reply that 'Anybody can finance a NEW Vette, but not anybody can have one 34 years old that looks like mine'....boy, I sure changed THAT attitude.

Probably has no plastic cover like the coupe just to save space for the folding hard top.

I doubt they will include a plastic decorative plenum cover for the Vert, but who knows. It's possible that they simply don't have room for it as the roof folds down on top of the engine.

I think the cover is what he was wondering about.

Are people really going to dress up their engines and go through the hassle of taking off the heat shield at car shows?

Why would you care about engine appearance package given you’ll never see the engine?

No, probably 95% of the owners don't even change their own oil.

It's actually a legitimate question because there will undoubtedly be a clear aftermarket heat shield like they have for the Cayman...

It is a good question.

I suspect the heat is going to be worse and also they need the space for the roof and heat shield. So, I think it will have no engine cover. In essence the heat shield is the engine cover.
