So in your opinion, do you think it would be a good idea or make any sense for me to go to the C7 section and tell everyone there that are fans of the C7, why I'm buying a C8 and what I perceive as the short comings of the C7? Do you think the C7 fans would care that I'm not buying a C7? Personally, I would expect to be attacked, just because I'm not a fan doesn't mean they aren't and I wouldn't think I was going to give any of them an epiphany moment and change their minds. I wouldn't go there, I just wouldn't buy a C7.

We’re just seeing some folks, typically happy C7 owners, many who were excited about welcoming a mid-engine variant, blowing off steam because it in some ways the C8 disappointed them.
Makes sense to me. Bitching about the C7 is so, well, 2014...
You’ll see no C7 owners in here bitching about the C8 in a few more months. Then, you’ll see more bitching from C8 folks having some problem or another. We’ve seen this pattern in 2005-6 and 2014-5...

I’ve driven nothing but sticks for the last 40 years. And I feel the DCT makes MY reasons for having avoided slushboxes all those decades moot. I sincerely wonder whether I will wind up where so many others have and actually miss having to operate a clutch. Right now I don’t see it...but I can only speak for myself.

I agree. A manual, if u can drive one connects one to the car and really engages you to manage the experience in a way that a DCT can't. Now if I'm racing the car I want a DCT every time.
Yeah — this argument has been done to death. One size surely does not fit all.

Basically, I just hated how slow and sloppy slushboxes felt. Eventually they caught up in quickness. But, I still disliked the feel — even when I test drove a very quick automatic C6 GS with the steering wheel shift buttons I was not impressed. Never have tried the 8-speed but that was mostly due to all the problems I’ve heard about.
The crisp mechanical feel is what I value. By all accounts, that’s what I’ll get in the C8. Now, if it turns out THEY have problems, I’ll just work my way up the C7 food chain...
You might want to rethink your opinion about the C8 not being a good GT car. It rides better than the C7, and is quieter inside.
Also I am a total die hard manual fan. Every performance car I have owned has had a manual. I have a garage full of manual cars now. I have to say, though, that the C8 is so fast, I'm not sure a manual is practical. 2.9 seconds to 60 would require some extremely fast and accurate shifting Given that, I am giving the DCT a try.

I think you will enjoy the car even though the manual option is deleted. If you get tired of the DCT you can always trade her in. It's a beautiful car with do many cool options that you will be enamored for a while. My two other cars have slush boxes and there are times I like to just not think about shifting but when I'm in the C7 I look forward to shifting the car. When I grew up manuals were really around but today manuals are going by the wayside. The industry may make a change in the other direction for sport's cars. I would think that offering a manual in the C8 would have helped to take some money from other companies that just offer DCT. Time will tell.
I look forward to a test drive - as a C7 owner they will let me take one out. Pull in with a Camry and I doubt the dealership will give u the keys.

I posted my thoughts to see if anyone else agreed and to learn. I've been on this forum a long time and never have been called a troll. To those who like to insult and write rude remarks well it speaks volumes on who you are as a person. Anyway, I did learn a lot from my post. A few comments:
1. Jay Leno has every car under the sun and he agrees with me that a manual connects you to the car in a way that a DCT can't. I've owned other high end cars with paddle shifting and it doesn't come close to the fun that a manual gives me. Yes the DCT will shift quicker and get u to 60 faster than a manual. However, I find the paddles gimmicky and not worth my time but that is my opinion. There are many people who liked them so god bless. Once again the average Corvette owner is over 60 and they don't drive the car hard. I don't think the average user cares about squeezing every last drop of performance out these cars. For example, I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting a performance car with better seats. The C7 is great for day trips but if you are driving 14 hours the car gets uncomfortable. Yes it's a sports car but why do we pigeon hole everything. Sports cars can be designed to be more comfortable. It's a choice that designers need to make and that customers need to demand if enough customers want this. I can't imagine that anyone would vote for harder seats. The thing I loved most with all my Corvettes is that the car had tons of storage. Yes - I've brought home molding from HD and loaded the car with 5 or 6 flats of perennials. See my car is a daily driver - I use my car in the rain, sleet, and snow - with over 58k on the speedo. If I do buy a C8 it will be used differently. I have since retried so I could live with less space but not sure I would want to. It's limiting. I guess some people will by the car and just enjoy it as is and not care about cargo space. I'm not sure if it will turn some people away. In short the C8 is a beautiful car with so many cool upgrades. I love the styling for the most part and reviews are excellent. I'm not pissing on the car just thinking out loud and maybe - hoping on some level to be convinced to buy one. I guess I will test drive on at some point and then make a decision.

Wow, not wanting a DCT! Rent one and go track it! I have been waiting on a DCT for a while in the Corvette platform. This thing is a truly amazing car. A few years ago, I had a drunk crush my right leg while I was on a motor cycle, I truly hate illegals now(his third DUI, and was out of jail over 20 days before I got out of the hospital)! You may think I am an *** now, but I actively go out of my way to ruin any illegals life. I can not drive ANY manual with even a decent clutch in it, can't ride horses at a decent level and can never truly play catch with my young son etc. along with many other things. I also have a stupid rare C2 a C4ZR1 that now sit in the garage due to not being able to drive them ever again. I think I will give them to my son when he is 18, but not being able to drive the C2 destroys me every time I walk by it.
