Will the car require a retune/reflash to get the best performance with this swap?
'Jus wondering........
(My Plan B would be to drive it stock for a few years, and then go twin-turbo (as in screw the remainder of the warranty....)
I'm "built" next week, I think.......VIN 3222
a) when pipes are too big you lose velocity (momentum) of the flowing gas this hurts the wave scavenging region (upper midrange) and helps the momentum scavenging region (high RPM).
b) when pipes are a bit too small (1-2mm) you gain in the midrange and lose a trifling in the high RPM band.
But, when the pipes have a proper shape and length with nice bends of constant cross sectional area and have a nice merge collector you can end up gaining midrange and gaining top end while having smaller diameter pipes.
It is only after the merge collector and after the expansion chamber (if any) that really big pipes are the ticket. After the expansion chamber it is all about getting the gasses to the exhaust tip.
