These work great..Just fold them in half damp and push them into the vents to keep water out..As far as the open slot at the bottom of the hatch window, very little water gets in if you rinse in the right direction.
I just gently rinse that area and after I dry the outside of my car, I open the trunks and the doors and dry them as well. It's no big deal. I did the same thing with my C5. C6 and C7. It also helps if you have a good leaf blower especially on the wheels. Just saying....
Too much work trying to prevent water from entering the Engine Bay. I wash, then blow dry my C8 and engine compartment in 15-20 minutes using my 180-MPH Stihl Blower, works great, no water spots.
Does anyone know whether there are any aftermarket solutions to seal the screening on the back deck over the engine, so water won't enter the engine compartment when washing a C8?
A little off topic, but does the rear glass get dirty between washings? I have a HTC right now but have a Z06 Coupe in my future, well I/m on a few wait list for one.
During about 10 washings, I kept considering and trying different methods of blocking the vents until I concluded I actually want water in the engine bay because it gets as dirty as anything due to rain here. So washing and drying the engine compartment just becomes part of the routine.

I've came to the same conclusion. - The rear engine bay on my C8 seems to get much dirtier (dustier) than a traditional front engine vehicle. - Add car washing water on top of that dust and you get water spots (I don't drive my C8 in the rain). - I just accept that I have to clean the engine and bay every other washing. - For the in between times, I'm ordering a set of the Quinten Racings vent covers. https://www.quintenracing.com/
Starting with my first C5 all the way until my C8 I made a continuous effort to keep the engine bays clean. Every time I washed the car I opened the hood plus the doors and back hatch and dried and kept it clean. But with the C8 it's designed to let air and of course water it too. My solution rather than blocking off all the vents is to do exactly what I did on all 3 of my other Corvettes. I applied the same coating on the inside as the outside of the car. With the C8 it's a ceramic and each time I polish the car I add it inside as well. I also blow dry the inside after washing as well . Guess what? There's no water spots or dirt buildup.
I simply place two very large beach towel under the rear screens. I’ve washed my C8 twice and the towels captured all the water that came through the vents. Obviously washing technique is the biggest factor on how much water goes through the vents.
Their is not much more water than when I washed my C7. Just takes a minute to wipe, dust everything up with damp towels from drying the car. None issue.
I agree with at least to me begs the question of why do so many people whine about nothing. I for one turn down the flow of the hose and around that area and spread the soap with a semi wet micro fiber and remove the same with a semi wet microfiber. No water no issue no scratches no whining

Good idea then you could just wipe up
the whole area with the towels and it’ll be clean as a whistle.
Yeah I'm sure both those aftermarket solutions (Quinton Racing @ $199 and C8MAC @ $249) are making a killing on covers that probably cost less than $25 to make. And their covers don't even include the extra $35 for shipping!
C8MAC also has covers for the three small vents on the rear deck lid of the HTC that sells for $249. I would think the HTC has the least problem with water getting into the engine compartment when washing especially where those vents are located.
