Default Quality control

Our car was built 9/11 and went to 4000 three days later, Dealer called this morning and said he got an email from Bowling Green that said it was pulled for quality control, can someone explain what that means exactly.
Thanks

Airbags come from a small set of suppliers, brake modules come from another small set, same for seats, AC systems, entertainment systems, etc, etc. Suppliers around the globe were shut down for 2 months or more. When they reopened they had a huge backlog of orders from every Customer they had to fill with no incoming supplies to start their manufacturing process. Sure brands have different designs in which they place the components but even though things may look different on the outside they are pretty much the same on the inside. If GM is having a valve spring problem I suspect other manufacturers may be having similar issues. Same goes for seat belt issues, GM isn't the only company using the retractors that have the problem.

I believe it means they select random cars from the line and perform quality control checks on the car to ensure everything is up to snuff. Could be a few days or weeks.

It may have to do with the engine valve spring issue. All cars built from June 1 to Sept 15th have a GM bulletin about defective valve springs.

Just guessing but it does fit.

In the same boat, 9/14 still at 3800. Not sure if I have pulled for QC.

Mine was born on the 18th. I would not be surprised at all if there is a delay.

I believe it’s the Stop Sale order from GM due to the brand new brake boost system recall. You can find info in other threads that have just been created on this. But it’s very likely that all deliveries are on indefinite hold while they figure out what to do about this problem. Hope I’m wrong but looks to be yet another big snafu.

The problem is there are multiple potential issues... maybe rename that "department" as just Control.

That or now the seatbelt recall. Should we start a pool & start selling squares on what will be recalled next.

People that have worked in mass production environment understand the issues with suppliers and quality. It’s a constant battle with suppliers about quality and delivery schedule.

With this car it could mean anything. It seems its full of engineering and supplier defects.

I’ve worked in the automotive industry my whole life and this is simply not true. Manufacturers set designs and minimum specifications for a given part usually with cost factored in. There are numerous OE supply manufacturers out there and some are better than others. Some have the equipment to build a given part to a particular spec and some don’t. Within engineering circles, GM doesn’t have the best reputation for “high” specifications.

An all new mid engine platform like this is bound to have some early issues. Hopefully GM gets to the bottom of it.

Mine built and rolled off the line on 9/11. Cleared QC and according to Shane, it NCM's possession and due to roll out the door on Tuesday.

NCM bringing them in and pushing them out without delay. A good sign so far that there is not a sales/shipping hold at this hour! Things do change swiftly though and hopeful I get mine out the door. I'll deal with a recall if directed to do so.

According to the other notices there is a stop sale/ship order currently. You may want to double check.

JAB - Did prior to my post. Nothing...yet. And, don't think I won't be checking several times a day till I get it out the door!

Watching NCM cams closely. Appears they are proceeding to relinquish some to the new owners as I type.
