I know this has been brought up before, and just wanted to share my thoughts after driving the car for 3 weeks. I opted for the 2LT package because I wanted the upgraded sound system and the wife wanted the heated seats mainly. But after driving the car, I find I rely 95% on the mirrors and not actually looking over my shoulder. This is the worst car I've ever driven as far as blind spots go. I can't imagine not having the rearview camera and blind spot monitoring and driving the car regularly. I kinda feel like these options should be 'stock'. If you are placing an upcoming order and on the fence to what package to get, just wanted to give you my suggestion.
Basically, when a car in your rear view mirror "disappears" from view as it gets closer to you, you should then be able to see it in one of your side view mirrors.
Most cars have their side view mirrors set to see the sides of the car which is incorrect for blind spot viewing. The side of the car should only be seen if you move your head (eyes) to the side of its normal position.

Difference in drivers, I have a 1LT and have no blind spot issues at all. Totally comfortable with the car, if the outside mirrors are properly adjusted, it's fine. You can easily look over the drivers shoulder and see plenty before moving over if you don't trust the mirror or didn't keep aware of your surroundings.
Ford puts convex/blind spot mirrors on their sports cars. My Focus RS and GT350 both have them stock and it makes a huge difference. I put them on my Camaro SS1LE and highly recommend them on any car with blind spots. It's such a cheap mod, and easily removed but I love them.
Dunno, i've tried messing around using the normal rear view mirror as well and yes the spoiler blocks off part of your vision as well... but it's pretty horrible. To each their own, but for me it's a HUGE difference. So much so I wouldn't even consider getting a 1LT car now if I had the choice again.

I've been in contact with a 3rd party supplier (Tadi Brothers) of a rear view camera / rear view mirror system while driving forward (i.e. not a back up only camera) and they say theirs works well on a C8. Their camera is adjustable with regards to lateral field of view up to 170 degrees or so. The only issue is that the camera is not mounted on the roof like the C8's but rather on the license plate area (part of the bracket). So in this case, the view is from down low but the cost is way less than buying all the goodies that come with the 2LT level; 9/10ths of which I do not want.

I'm not against the convex/blind spot mirror, and more is probably better than less, but if you can only see your own lane with regular mirrors like in the picture above, you are doing it very wrong.
1LT here. Takes a little getting used to at first, but I am now adjusted and feel like the LT2 package is a complete waste of money unless you like all the gadgets. If in doubt of a lane change, just accelerate into an open space.
If you want to remove more doubt these match the shape of the mirror and look great:

Yeah the picture is not accurate but the idea is. I’m a huge fan of convex mirrors, and it eliminates any need for a rear view camera mirror, IMHO. Not sure why they are not standard on cars like the Camaro and Corvette.

What's even worse on nearly all (or all) modern cars is the complete lack of rear peripheral lighting when in reverse, which allows the driver to use the side view mirrors and see each rear corner, rather than being forced to use a camera which may or may not be covered in road grime, obscuring vision when backing up.
From: Calgary, AB. There's a reason why white was the only color offered on every year Corvette. Proud Canadian German Jamaican!

You'd think that safety should be standard on all trims but then you get the old farts who don't want all the new fangled doodads, the same ones who complained about center brake lights, airbags and ABS back in the day.

I own a 1LT as well...like others have mentioned, the blind spots aren’t much of an issue...
but the rear view mirror is ...reflections in the nighttime are somewhat bothersome when driving in the city...the bright lights reflect through the rear hatch and the rear Separator glass ....
I even sometimes see the reflection of my dash on the rear view mirror.
So I just flick the mirror up.
Whats behind you don’t matter! ....Some famous Italian racer/car builder said that.
I agree about the limited rear visibility in the mirror. The camera is much better but, I find that my eyes have a little difficulty when using the camera while driving. Kind of makes me a little dizzy when I look up at the mirror in camera mode takes a fraction of a second for my eyes to adjust. Anyone else have this issue?

You don't notice it much after a week or so. Wouldn't (shouldn't) be without it!
