Right. One is gray and one is silver. The gray is really much darker.
There are actually two "gray" choices and one silver for 2021. Have you been to Chevrolet.com lately? Here is the Ceramic Matrix Gray Metallic I was talking about. Looks pretty silver to me and very light. The on line picture actually looks more silver than these pics which is a screen shot transfer to here. The other silver is called Silver Gray metallic. Here is a link to a Youtube video of Ceramic Matrix Gray Metallic.
To many variables to know. I put in my order back in Aug. I am guessing I'll see my car in June or July (going off a slightly educated guess, based on what I have read here, and there, since the restart of MY20 production)..
So I did a little research yesterday. My local Chevrolet dealer in Tracy CA. said I could place an order now and expect it in about a year. LOL. They said they would require a $5,000 deposit. They don't charge a markup, just retail pricing and they said they would honor the price when I made the deposit even if GM increased pricing down the road. Then I asked if they had painted chips and seating choices other than on line pictures. This dealer, as well as 4 others that I contacted in my general area, all do not provide information other than what's on line or in printed brochures. I think silver on the C8 is really nice. There are currently two choices of silver. My computer screen really doesn't provide a distinct difference and it's likely not a proper representation. Cars always look a little different in person. I have only seen one C8 on the road and that was on the highway going the opposite direction. So choosing a color is a problem. And they are not allowing customers access to already sold C8s due to Covid 19 concerns. Can't say I blame them. If it were my new C8 I wouldn't want people sitting in it. So GM expects someone to spend $75,000 to $85,000 on a vehicle without being able to drive one, touch one, see realistic paint samples or provide seat choices to ensure comfort and proper fit. It’s just a big roll of the dice. And 12 months wait?? I've been a Corvette guy my entire life and have owned 4 previous models over the years. I may be looking at the Audi S7.
My nephew has a CMG, in person it does not look silver. Sometimes it looks white, sometimes off white, sometimes a very light gray and sometimes almost a very light blue. I think the only true silver color is the Silver Flare.
Is the $5000 deposit refundable? Your order won’t be locked in until a couple months before you would get the car. So you would have 10 months to actually see the colors in person before you had to decide. I'm surprised the dealer won’t let you see sold C8s, no need to sit in the car, you just want to look at the color. You should be able to wear a mask and look to your heart’s content. You SHOULD be able to tell your dealer what colors you want to see and they should call you when they have one there so you can go look. I guess customer service isn’t there strong suit.

The $5000 is refundable. If the car made it to the assembly line and I wanted to cancel they would hold the deposit until the car got sold. And I would have some months to decide on the color for sure. The seat upgrade as well. Dealers won’t let you sit in a sold C8 and that’s what I would want to do. Does anyone have any comment on the difference between the standard GT1 seat and the upgrade GT2? Is the worth the $1,495 price upgrade. I won’t be tracking the car.
