no, really. GM isn’t taking orders yet. GM really doesn’t know when 2021 production will start. But it will probably be about 8 weeks or so from when GM accepts the order, and schedules it for production... Anybody that tells you something different is lying.
Depends! Depends if your dealer has allocations. Depends where you fall on the dealer’s list. Depends if there are cancelled 2020 orders that need to be entered as 2021 orders which come before your order. Depends, depends, depends...
Do you mean an order with a dealer or once your order is accepted at GM and started into production? Two very different things.
Looking at prior posts it looks like there is lots of speculation and estimates after the summer. But to answer your question, I was talking about when I place an order with the dealer assuming they have an available allocation - about when would it arrive. But it looks like they aren’t even taking 2021 orders yet. so I guess it’s best to check in with the dealer.

Got it. Yes, at this time allocations haven't been given to the dealers. In theory let's say that production starts in Jan 2021 and you are part of the first allocations in January. Likely your car would be done in Feb and you would see it late Feb/early March given that it doesn't get a long QC hold. So I would expect that once your order is put into GM you should see your car in 8 weeks (again, provided no large QC issues). This again assumes that there isn't another plague that hits us and suppliers keep the parts coming in. Also that nothing you ask for is on constraint. As you can see there are a ton of variables that create a really a moving target. Best of luck and hope you are high on your dealers list!!

It would be amazing that a dealer would not have a significant "list" for 2021 cars already so placing an order after the dealer gets its first allocation is unlikely to have a car delivered within 8 weeks that the customer places an order. MacMulkin already has nearly 700 cars on the 2021 C8 list and no allocations have yet been given out. That may not include the 2020 orders they had that were not at 3000, so even more. If 2021 production stops in August, they are likely already full up on 2021s that will get an allocation unless they have a lot of dropouts.

When I was there on Sunday, I heard a salesperson tell someone they're up in the "mid-700's."

MacMulkin's list DOES INCLUDE 2020 orders that were not at 3000.
I put my 2021 order in with MacMulkin on 8/10 and was #426 that day. As of yesterday, they tell me I am #399. I would guess a late spring or early summer delivery at the Museum for me!

Based on the above, the deposit @ea327 put down in October, and my deposit in September, the math says during that period they were receiving an average of 25-29 C8 deposits per week!
So I did a little research yesterday. My local Chevrolet dealer in Tracy CA. said I could place an order now and expect it in about a year. LOL. They said they would require a $5,000 deposit. They don't charge a markup, just retail pricing and they said they would honor the price when I made the deposit even if GM increased pricing down the road. Then I asked if they had painted chips and seating choices other than on line pictures. This dealer, as well as 4 others that I contacted in my general area, all do not provide information other than what's on line or in printed brochures. I think silver on the C8 is really nice. There are currently two choices of silver. My computer screen really doesn't provide a distinct difference and it's likely not a proper representation. Cars always look a little different in person. I have only seen one C8 on the road and that was on the highway going the opposite direction. So choosing a color is a problem. And they are not allowing customers access to already sold C8s due to Covid 19 concerns. Can't say I blame them. If it were my new C8 I wouldn't want people sitting in it. So GM expects someone to spend $75,000 to $85,000 on a vehicle without being able to drive one, touch one, see realistic paint samples or provide seat choices to ensure comfort and proper fit. It’s just a big roll of the dice. And 12 months wait?? I've been a Corvette guy my entire life and have owned 4 previous models over the years. I may be looking at the Audi S7.
