Just turned 500 miles on my C8 yesterday after attending a Corvette event outside of Austin.
I was on my way home when fortunately, very close to my home my car began bucking and losing power. When in the automatic mode it skipped gears when shifting, and when trying it in manual and attempting to downshift, it skipped all the way from fifth gear to
first gear a couple of different times. It finally got to the point where it actually had almost no power, and the check engine light when on.
Anyone else have anything like this? It appears that tomorrow the dealer will probably have to pick up the car from my house, as I can't imagine driving this with the check engine light on.
Sucks!
Sounds like the DCT. There have been a small number of DCT failures. Fix will probably be to replace the transaxle. Other possibility for the driveability issues (bucking and losing power) is a broken valve spring, but haven't heard of that causing shifting issue.
This is why cars have warranties. Major bummer, but it'll get fixed.
Just got my car back from the dealer after it started skipping odd gears and wouldnt upshift properly. I had the same experience of the missed shift and the car feeling terrible, clunking into gear as a result. I was able to get it to the dealer with only 3 skipped shifts, so hopefully no damage occurred from skipping the odd gears a few times. Luckily for me, it was just a loose harness connection and they didn't have to do major surgery. Car is currently driving fine, but this was my 2nd small issue so far, so it hasn't earned my trust just yet.
Hope yours is a similar small fix and they dont have to take it apart very much. Good luck.
