I just can't see spending 400-600 on a painted engine cover so I decided to do it myself.
I think it turned out great and I still have money in my pockets ..... LOL
Used 2 coats of primer, Then 2 coats of Red, Hand painted the Corvette Flag then 3 coats of Clear coat.
I hurried up the drying process by putting in over for 20 minutes at 170 degrees.

It looks fantastic! What kind/brand of primer and paint did you use?
I had been told "Edge Red" would match the valve covers but could not find it anywhere. I used "Victory Red" and it is dam close but the Valve covers actually look like a metal flake? You would really need
some paint experience to fully match. Gray Primer then Red then Clear coat.
Nice job. I don't know why anyone spends hundreds of dollars on this stuff. Airbrushing, sure. I can understand that. But a simple color change? That's not some high level skill you need to pay an expert for.

Great job!
I'm not sure I'd want to do brake calipers, but this looks like a fun project. Did you scuff up the surface so your paint would adhere to it better, or is that not necessary?

Really? There are tens of thousands that cannot understand why somebody would buy a 2-seat sports car just to go real fast. You really are perplexed by the fact that people want to pay a few hundred dollars to get a nicer professionally done engine cover? I don't see it as a great mystery.
