Default Requesting advice

Local Chevrolet dealership GM has purchased a used C8 with 2k miles on it, now for sale in showroom. Loaded, msrp 89,800. Selling for 10k over msrp. Research shows build date is during value spring issue. I understand the 2021 models are already being delivered. I can get on the list for an allocation, and build my own 2021. Possible delivery 6 2021. My build would be very similar to the 2020 in the showroom. I feel like the window is closing or closed on the 2020 mark ups! Forum advise please.

I vote 2021 IMO. No premiums for me. Others will say what’s it worth to you and pay the overage if you got the $ and can’t wait. End of the day it’s a used car. No thanks.

I wouldn’t be interested in a year old used one for more than msrp.

You must be extremely, extremely lucky if you're not currently on a wait list and dealer is quoting 06/21 build given GM's current allocation. I may be wrong, but I don't know of any dealers with allocation past 1st quarter '21. If you don't order thru this dealer, please PM me dealer info. I would love to call them and see what they say regarding a new order. I am on several other waitlists and none of my dealers are going so far to guestimate when my car can be ordered. All the dealers are at the mercy of GM and there is long term info being given to dealers regarding next allocation.

$10K over MSRP for a used (2000 mile) C8. No way I'd do it.

It really comes down to is 10k worth having it now vs waiting over a year. And that’s really something only you can answer.

one other thing I find interesting about the C8 market is with so many being turned over I wonder if these cars will eventually be worth less. I know when I sold my C5 and C6 some buyers were immediately turned off if the car had more then 3-4 owners.

I wouldn’t pay $10k over MSRP for a brand new 2020. That’s a hard pass.

If the car has had the valve springs replaced, there will be service history to validate., As for price, no advice. Do your own math, make your own choices.

I wouldn’t be interested in a used one for MSRP. It’s just a car, and a base model Stingray at that. Paying $10k over MSRP for a used one just means you’ll lose more $ when you go to sell or trade.

Either you just have to have one now for whatever reason makes you feel that way or you don’t & you can get on a list. Whichever one it is is entirely up to you.

Wait and get the 2021. You won't have to stress about the valve springs and you will also get the updated features of the infotainment screen. If you don't know what i'm talking about watch Rick Conti's last video.

What do YOU want to do? Do you want to wait for a 2021 or pay now for a 2020? Figure out what is best for YOU and decide. You dont need us to tell you what to pick. This really is simple.

Depends on when you WANT and MUST have a C8! Doubt you'll get a 2021 by June 2021 unless the dealer has a high allocation and puts you first (doubt they would unless dealership in owned by a family member!)

At a recent Barrett Jackson auction a used 2020 went for ~$20,000 over MSRP. Expect, as they have stated in Posts, most forum members would not do it but some folks would. When I posted on Facebook that my C8 arrived a friend California said a gal he knows paid $25,000 over MSRP. He said but don't feel bad for her, she owns 12 McDonalds! Yep if Bill gates gets a whim to have a C8, what's $20,000 extra. I'm sure whoever handles his "wants" will get it flown in and put a big red bow on and have it in front of his house!

It's your money and your time. Unless you have an endless amount of both, go with whatever you have the most of.

Shop around. In a few months you can buy a similar car around MRSP. MacMulkins has had a few for sale at MSRP plus a 7500 dollar full car wrap.

You will need to make this decision for yourself. I would take into consideration that the car will be a year older and may not be the exact build that you would order. Ordering a 2021 at MSRP would be the smartest choice for me.

Will you be driving it before spring? If not, you will find better prices by then or order the 2021 assuming you really will get it in June. It's your money and you have several choices.

Used cars are supposed to depreciate. I'd pass.
