So, very much considering changing from AW to SO, my time is running short as im at 2000....Can someone who has seen the color in person tell me how it looks in person, not in the sun? is it more of a dull orange when not in direct light? pictures vary from very dull, to the brightest "popping" color. is there a ton of metalic flake in the paint?
I'm in the same situation. I've only seen an SO on the road, but I can tell you that the color pops! I'm sorry that I can't quantify the amount of metal flake; the lady driving the C8 was in my rear view mirror and then passed me before I could pull over and flag her down.
Not that I wasn't tempted just to get a look at the car!
My first car was a 1973 Chevrolet Nova in Ontario Orange. If you remember that color, the current SO seems to have a little less yellow in it. Very attractive, IMHO.
I dont know the technical specs for the metal flake but it is subtle and most visible in direct light- definitely less flake than the Mcclaren if you have seen one of those. It changes with the light from direct sun to daylight and then evening - all slightly different. I dont consider myself a fan of orange paint but on the corvette there is something about Sebring Orange- even on the 2019 models when it came out- that looks awesome. So i have it on my C8 and no regrets. almost everytime i take it out i get a compliment.
I was on the fence but got to see one at inside at delivery and another recently outdoors. It's not as loud as some pics sometime make it out to be. My order is at 2000 and staying with this color.

I saw it under dealer showroom lights and some indirect light coming in through large windows. I couldn't detect any metallic or pearl at all and i got up close and looked hard for it. It is a nice bright orange however !

If your interior is simply black and you have to pick between white or orange on a sports car, orange all the way, especially with matching orange seat belts.
Everyone has different tastes but I'd never buy a white, black, silver or grey Corvette, much less any sports car. The C8 is a mid engine vehicle mimicking exotics, don't try and fly under the radar in a white C8, own it, get something flashy.
There is a lot of metallic in the paint. You just have to see it in the right light. In the sun or under the right light the car looks incredible. In poor light or cloudy days it looks a little flat. Having said that I would not trade my Orange for anything.
Poor indoor lighting Very good fluorescent lighting at night Single street lamp at night Bright sunny day Cloudy day no sun Bright sunny day Poor lighting in the evening
I've had my Sebring orange 3LT for 2 months now... It looks great in every light and compliments from everyone who sees it.
For comparison, I've gone to the cars and coffee in Rancho Sante Fe (near San Diego) which on any given Saturday has 20+ exotics there (Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren- even a Senna once) and it drew a ton of compliments even there. Someone has an orange 720s there and the Chevy Sebring orange stands up very well to a much much more expensive paint job.
It does get a LOT of attention so expect a lot of honks, waves, thumbs up, etc. I've had three people follow me to a parking lot to get a look (one in a track hawk, one in a 66 corvette convertible and one in a 350GT).
This car looks like a true exotic... Might as well go with an exotic color!
I was on the fence too both look great but I'm glad I went AW. SO can look great in a lot of sun, but a little dukes of hazzard if cloudy. There really isn't a bad color on the car it just depends where you live and what the environment might be. There will be opinions for both sides so follow your heart.
I have seen them both in different light conditions. The SO will pop in direct sun light and is sharp looking. I think this color looks better on the C7 than the C8. AW is timeless and always looks great. I'm sure that you would be happy with either one. It is just a matter of preference. Go with your first instinct!
I love the SO on my C7 but for some reason I'm not liking it as much on the C8. I don't know why. I'm still up in the air about what color I will order for the C8 when I get the call from the dealer but I'm leaning towards Black with the adrenaline red interior. The SO has a lot of flake in it which looks nice in the sun and without sun and getting towards darkness the shine is awesome!
I mentioned this in another thread on SO but the color of the trim, wheels, & interior will give the color a different appearance. Black trim, wheels, interior will give the orange a darker/deeper/brighter appearance while silver wheels, grey or natural interior, and body/color trim (with those options) will give the color a lighter appearance.
Like I said in the other thread, I’ve parked my Inferno Orange Z06 with all black trim next to an Inferno Orange GS with chrome wheels & trim, and the cars looked like two different colors.
Whatever trim, wheel color you with the SO will be better than white, imo. White just gets lost in the shuffle of all the other white cars on the road.
I'll say one thing about the orange cars, even the owners that are "on the fence" when ordering, generally like the tint coat color when they finally see it.
Also, the orange tint coat "travels" a lot more than the other colors. (As the pics above can attest.)
Sebring Orange is a stunning color and a real eye catcher and I think you may regret getting plain ordinary white. If it was me I would call all Chevy dealers within 500 miles to find out if they have one that a customer has not picked up yet I would then jump in the car to go see it in person rather than regret it later.
WOW! you all are truly the best! I appreciate everyone helping me, im going to send in a new build with sebring as my color, 1lt with jet black leather, orange belts, carbon wheels, carbon mirrors and spoiler(z51 of course)
When Gm unveiled the C8, my wife was somewhat opposed to my getting on the list. She thought she had me when she said that she won't complain about it if I get the Serbing Orange. She was pretty surprised when I didn't miss a beat and said works for me! I'm typically a dark metallic color kind of guy... I'm on the list for the Z06-I hope they don't make any changes to SO, I'm looking forward to it with a lot of visible carbon fiber!! As an aside, I'm a Gator fan and she's a Clemson fan. Works for both of us on game day.
