I got 2 of these and they are perfect.
Thanks! I actually had ordered the one looks like a small wallet I mentioned earlier and Amazon was too quick. I got them today. I put my key in that case and went to my car. My car just worked even though the key was in side of the case. lol Then after I came back home, I read the instruction again then I realized that I put into a wrong pocket. Will try again tomorrow. The small wallet type case was actually yea a bit of hassle when I wanted to lock the door or open trunks. That can type might be easier to take out/put in keys.

Relay attack

A relay attack in computer security is a type of hacking technique related to man-in-the-middle and replay attacks. In a classic man-in-the-middle attack, an attacker intercepts and manipulates communications between two parties initiated by one of the parties. In a classic relay attack, communication with both parties is initiated by the attacker who then merely relays messages between the two parties without manipulating them or even necessarily reading them.

Like sitting in a car and reading the GARAGE OPENER code, coming back later, opening it and then entering the garage when the owner is out. This is a little more complex, but the same principle.
Thank you for the explanation. I have heard about the method you detailed, just had never heard the term "relay attack".

You can have all kinds of safeguards in life, home security systems, identity theft protection, a bushel basket of insurance policies, key protection devices, etc. At what point are you a slave to the paranoia that all this stuff is marketed with.

You just need non main stream security.

A simple kill switch can slow down or frustrate any thief, no matter how advanced.

And for anything else there is always GPS.

But you'll still have to wait a year for a replacement if a C8 gets stolen today.

Kill switch won't stop anyone from hauling it away with a tow truck, And GPS often just tells the cops where the car got stripped by the time they get there. You don't really think a car theft is the highest priority big city cops have on their plates.

Kill switch does not work with a flatbed.

Insurance is the best bet, as stated earlier ..
When they use the flat bed, they put an aluminized cover over the car and all the GPS stuff is useless.

A few years ago the news showed how they took a car, with a flatbed, covered it and then disabled the battery. Then covered the car again. Gone from view and GPS.
They got caught because one owner had put a separate GPS with it's own separate battery in the car. It only showed for a few minutes while getting moved into a shipping container, but enough to find the yard where it was. If I remember there was over 30 cars there..

When it goes into a shipping container - metal and it's next stop is overseas.

hehe. what kind of car would have somebody popping it into a special GPS signal blocking container, by dragging it up or into said container from where it is parked like a normal car...

In other words, this situation is the OWNERS fault for parking THAT type of car like a normal car

There are two solutions for this, apparently common self-damage
1. stop treating it like a normal car and take special precautions.
2. Figure out why people need to take your "that kind of car" in such a dramatic fashion that theft can't be stopped in the first 5 minutes by use of a simple child tracker from your cell phone or similar real time tracking. Plus armed escort of course, this is diy obv you need 5 trucks to converge on queue

For #1 here are some examples:
A. earth rooted chained up car to car or car to truck, or car to railroad trailer, weld as necessary the frame to take obscene locking chains
B. 'exotic' theft deterrent (warnings about spikes and flames, trapdoors spiders electricity and old opened television panels that were recently unplugged)
C. have it repainted to look like a normal car or put the drivetrain into a normal car, maintaining the performance but without showing it off
D. "scratch up the new bike" the ultimate test of love of ownership- are you willing to sacrifice the vehicle's pristine exterior for the sake of keeping it from being taken?

If I remember the " documentary " on TV , most of the cars were Caddy's and Lincolns. With a few Jags and Chargers thrown in. Nothing exotic or real high end.

Corvette's and Mustangs are usually stolen as cars of opportunity and a quick, destructive joy ride. If you're stealing a car to make money on just about any recent Honda, Toyota , Subaru or full size pickup is worth more on the stolen car/parts market.

If they are going to take it, they use a flatbed and oil on the tires. Gone in less than 60 seconds.
Saw a cop and new Lexus owner in the mall last year standing in a spot with 2 oil tracks on the ground. Yep, it's stolen. People go into the mall for lunch and shopping and by the time they get outside the car is gone.
