Lately I find the controversial styling of the rear end of the C8 is actually growing on me. Here is a great shot of the back end of Mike Furman's C8 and I finally realize it reminds me of the rear end of a jet fighter. Seriously, those tail lights and vents make me think of afterburners on a F35, and the nacelles are definitely inspired by aircraft. If you look from that point of view, and also remember that everything Harley Earl did was also inspired by flight, the rear styling of this car is very, very cool....
I need another cup of coffee as my vision is definitely a bit different than yours. I am not going to say much about the rear end of the C8 as I recall when the C7 came out the rear end was not my favorite look. Over time I got used to it and ended up moving from a C6 to a C7. I anticipate history repeating itself when the C8Z arrives.

Agree about afterburner look. Just that it’s an F-22. The F-35 looks like that fat little brother that’s slow. 😂 F-22 F-22 F-35
The taillights are growing on me. The part that I really like is that the HTC rear window area, the nacelles, and engine cover remind me of a Testarossa. The coupe looks more like a 360 Modena.

F35 does not have afterburners, It has one afterburner as it is a single engine aircraft

I know, I know. In fact, I misspoke and have already been sternly corrected by other forum members. I spent some time many years ago on Marine Corps air stations, but sadly, my knowledge of combat aircraft ends with F4s, A6s (the four seaters), and early FA 18s.
I liked the entire car the moment I saw it in pictures & even more so when I saw it in person at Van Bortel Chevrolet.
A fighter jet never came to mind.

I don't get all this jet fighter talk. Its a car. It looks nothing like an airplane from any angle. But, I will say that the HTC is way better looking than the Coupe. The First Vette generation that I can say that.
Frankly, the C8 is another modern car where pictures do it absolutely no justice - at all.
- C8, You have to see it in person - It's a hell of a lot sleeker than pics show.
- Lamborghini Huracan, by far the largest offender - that front slant ONLY looks good in person.
- C7, Again - You have to see it in person - It's a hell of a lot sleeker than pics show......not as bad as the C8 but there is a difference.
- I heard the new big snout BMWs actually look decent in person? I have yet to see one in the flesh.

I agree, it looks like a car to me as well, but I think that we're talking about elements borrowed from airplanes, like the 'cockpit' layout. When I saw the frunk leading edge, the first thing that it reminded me of were the faceted 'stealth shapes' from the B-2 and F-35 (all the compartment doors). But of course, it all depends on what you're most familiar with. I'm an aerospace engineer, so I've always taken a keen interest in aircraft.

The C8 is one heck of a good looking car, but I can say that about all the previous generations. I haven’t found one that I totally dislike, although there are some design elements of each generation that could probably have been improved.
