Almost looks like the paint is cracked and lifting.

Oh ****. This was a big issue on C7’s especially 2017’s. A lot of front and rear bumper paint peeling / cracking on the panel seams because they were not properly cleaned / prepared before painting. This was supposedly fixed. I guess not

GM still working on a fix for this. Been around since 2014, they might get it sorted in the next decade but would not hold my breath.

Just goes to show the lack of seriousness GM takes on this issue.

Everything is fixable, only limits are the depth of ones wallet and determination within a reasonable limit.

Yes a known problem and yes it can be fixed and should be paid for by GM.

It’s too bad the ppf installer didn’t wrap the edges with the film. You can clearly see in your photo that there is zero clearance between those two panels, so when the car/panels flex for any number of reasons, they’re rubbing together. The paint needs to be touched up AND those panels aligned better. Good luck.

The other thing on your car that you can see in the pic, which is true on my cars with ppf (Xpel specifically), is their pre-cut kits leave a good bit of space unprotected.

of you wrap the edges over two panels that touch you're screwed. Been there.. don't that..

This started happenong on 2016 or so when they changed the panels again from 14 15. Must be the lighter material or something. Go back and read the articles about the C7 composites getting even lighter for 2016. That's when I started noticing this myself as well. It sucks.

Repair is covered under bumper2bumper warranty. Ridiculous that this is still an issue. Good luck with repair.

Robert:
I had this same problem on my 2015 C7. The dealer was able to adjust the panels and fix the paint; you can't even see where it used to be. So yes, it is fixable.

Couldn't agree more. Six years later and they still can't get their act together on it.

Hmmm mine built on December 10th also. Can you take a photo a couple feet further out? I will post a picture of mine in the same spot this evening to compare gaps. I will loose my mind if I find splits in the paint like that. See the difference?
