Hi All-
I just got some wheel locks and had the occasion to loosen a lug nut.
It was pretty loose. Maybe 90-100 ft lbs. None of the others were up to Spec.
The Manual advises rechecking them after the first 100 miles or so, do it.
Torque Spec is 140 ft. lbs. BTW, McGuard 24215 is identical to the factory lock and way cheaper.
I never use wheel locks on anything. I'd rather they take insured tires and wheels than destroy half the car trying. But, if locks help ya sleep easier...

Never had one scratch on any of the cars owned for over 20 years.
you are correct. The only difference between 24215 and 24210 is length. If you are looking for a lock set for use on the oe corvette wheels, then 24215 should be the choice.
The only time I ever had wheels stolen was when I had wheel locks. They basically just smashed the window, took my wheel lock key lug, and used my own jack and tire iron to take the wheels.
Since then I don’t bother. If you’re up against somebody willing to steal your wheels, why would they draw the line at smashing a window?
Plus wheel locks look terrible on exposed lugs.
Looking at the email from the McGrad Tech remined me it's always a good idea to check with them IF you see a lock or lug you like and check to see has the right thread size and cone angle. Recall finding some black, what are called "Tunner" lugs/locks that would have fit my 2014 Z51 black wheels. BUT they were not listed at fitting the Vette.
Called and the McGard technician and he said the ones I picked "May" fit but are designed for small foreign cars. They may not have the depth and could bottom on the stud. Yep not good if that 140 ft-lbs was not loading the seat- just the top of the stud! That is why some racing bodies require lugs where the stud is visible! My Street Rod has lug nuts from Jegs that are long and hollow with an open end. However the open end has a internal treads and there is a screw-in black plastic cap! So if going to a drag strip where open lugs ae required you just unscrew the plastic caps!
Just a quick reply. I have lots of experience with wheel locks. The ones you show are easily and quickly defeated in your driveway. McFard of Europe has some that are higher security but are hard to find. I got some from Amazon UK. They aren’t even on McGards US website. If you want nice looking and REALLY undefeatable locks, look at Advanced Wheel Lock. Buy 2 keys, because I broke a key once and I would have been screwed if I hadn’t a spare. If you buy McGard or Gorilla locks, you are only fooling yourself. I’m not a vendor or anything, but these are the only ones available in the US that work. They aren’t big, ugly lumps either.
