Default Frunk Question

All-

Looking for some help. I have a 2021 C* with 130 miles on it. Too snowy to drive the last two months in Pennsylvania to drive the car. Had the battery saver set for that period.

Backed the care out of the garage the other day. Before doing so, I closed the frunk lid. Only moved about twenty feet.

When I was ready to pull it back in, (I did not notice when I backed out) I noticed that the screen showed the "hood is open" . It appears to be closed to me. No obstructions, no gaps. It appears to be positioned as it should be. As it is open (per the computer sensor), I cannot reopen it. The key fob, the door button, and the front bumper release ALL do not work. I looked at the owners manual on line and noted that the car has a mechanical "pull" located to the left and above the brake pedal that can be pulled twice to open it (in the event you have no power) but I cannot locate it.

I am wondering first, has anyone experienced this problem? Second, is anyone familiar with this pull and how to locate it? Third, does it seem correct that because the fob or door button makes no sounds when pushed that the actuator is not working and that may ultimately be the problem. I also wonder if there is no sound ( as there is with the rear deck lid, that the fact that the sensor sees the frunk as being opened, that it may not ne engaging simply because of that.

A very frustrating circumstance and any advise help is appreciated.

B-T-W - Dealership has ordered new hood lock parts and a new actuator.

Thank you.

Bob

You're not alone. The following thread will show you another's experience. Included several posts down into the thread is a picture of the manual release cable located in the driver side footwell below the steering column.

Looks like you'll need those ordered parts.

That trunk mechanical pull is a lot further forward than you think it is. It is there, you just gotta find it. & you have to pull it twice. Chances are that once you release it manually, it will start to work again.

Wear gloves when you pull it.

If it is the actuator failure, which most have been, the car will work again and not be limited to 26mph BUT only until you try to open the frunk again with the front touchpad, the button in the driver’s door or the key fob. Once any of those are attempted, the frunk will not open, the “open” message will return and the speed will be limited to 26mph again. The manual pull cable will have to be pulled twice again so the frunk can be opened and closed. The fix has been a new actuator.
