Hi everyone,
My name is Skip, I placed my order for my corvette the first week of January 2020. I am still waiting for it. I could have gotten it in Jan. 2021 but I told my dealer (Van Borttel corvette) to schedule it so I could do the Museum pick up the end of April. So they sent in the order the first week of February. After talking to a Delivery agent at the museum in late February I found out that I couldn't get either the plant tour or the track experience so I immediately contacted my salesman to cancel the museum delivery. After an "act of god" by my dealer & 1 month later they were able to do it but GM is refusing to drop the $1000. charge. Plus they told me it would take another 6 weeks to get the car, which accentually means they started the order all over again. I still don't have a TSD. Needless to say I am livid. I am very pleased & grateful to my salesman & my dealer for their efforts. But very upset with GM..

Of course it went sideways, you changed the order at the end and expect a behemoth company to be able to accommodate you.

Even without the track and tour if you haven't been to the NCM it worth the experience.

Something is not right here. If your dealer had an allocation in February, 2020, and used your order specs to fill that allocation, that vehicle would already be produced. Once the order status gets past 2000 there is no changing the order. So if the order went in with Museum Delivery, that car will have a $1,000 charge to the MSRP (I would note that even with the $1,000 charge on the MSRP, your dealer can discount the car by any amount they want). Something smells fishy on the dealer's part here. It would seem to me they either did not have an allocation like they told you they did, or they had an allocation and sold that car to someone else (who I assume was willing to pay more for the car).

When the dealer told you the order went in February, 2020, did they give you your GM Workbench order number? And if so, did you use that number to track the order status? The reason I ask is this order was so long ago (over 1 year now) that even with all of COVID shutdowns and delays that car would have been produced and in the dealers hands a long time ago. I suspect if your dealer really did enter an order for you, that order never went past 1100 status and then was canceled by GM when the 2020 model year ended last year.

What was you order status when you decided to cancel the museum delivery? If it was at 3000 (accepted by production control), it’s a miracle it got canceled. Production control picked up my order in November. I’m here in Florida for the winter (going back to Ohio on Tuesday). I tried to get a courtesy delivery to a Chevy dealer here in Florida once I had an estimated TPW. I found out there’s no way to make a change once the order goes to 3000 so the car was delivered to the Delaware, Ohio dealer and I paid to have it shipped down to Florida. It sucked, but I understand the rational for no order changes once the assembly plant picks up the order for production.

when i put in the order in jan. 2020 i was # 120 on their list therefore I did not get a 2020.because of covid. So when they said i was next in line in Jan. 2021 I told them to hold back the order until Feb.. Then in feb/march there were 2 delays one for lack of parts the other for weather closing the plant for almost a week. They are going to discount the $1000.

The only reason I canceled the museum delivery was because I wasnt going to get what I paid for. I hadnt gotten a TSW yet.

That makes more sense now. If your order filled an allocation in February, 2021, then your order went to 2000 around 2/16 and that is when the order became locked to changes. Orders that were allocated in February are scheduled to be built this month and into next month so your order was not starting all over, just the normal course of current production. If you have your order number you could use the chat box on the corvette.com website to see what the current status is for your order and if it is at 3400 (or higher) they will be able to give you the TPW, which will tell you what week your order is scheduled to be produced. Once you have your TPW you can add about 1 to 3 weeks delivery time to New York, assuming of course that the act of God your dealer said they pulled off really changed the actual shipping of the car to them instead of the Museum.

I'm more shocked that they were able to change it at this point. Good luck and enjoy the car once you get it.

If you have to pay for the museum delivery, than I would do it without the tour or track experience any way. This is once in a live time experience for most people. The museum itself is a great experience! Best of luck with your delivery and enjoy driving your new C8!

Yeah, but no way is GM going to change his order again, to add museum delivery back.

Track experience should open back up soon with the warm weather, but even if you can't do it because of weather or other closure they give you a rain check you can use later. Same with the plant tour. We did the museum delivery despite neither option being available at the time, and we look forward to going back for the track day and plant tour once they are available. It was still a fantastic experience.
