Default C8 problems

I am waiting for the C8 Corvette I ordered. I have been told that due to delays, it is likely that I will be getting a 2022, though I ordered a 2021. Someone recently told me that they know someone who has gotten their C8 (not sure what year), and it is spending more time in the repair shop/dealership than on the road. Can anyone tell me if there are widespread issues with this car? I haven't seen anything that would suggest that there are.

Late November delivery.... been sitting in my garage here in North East PA most of the winter, but I have managed to get 1,700 miles on it. Trouble free except for one trip to Mr. Goodwrench for defective frunk actuator - problem diagnosed, part obtained and fixed in two days. Tuff to beat that! Very good build quality, very happy so far. This is my 7th Corvette.

Have mind for three months put 1700 miles on it. Little over 600 miles driving from NCM no problems at all its a 2021 HTC great car.

Go look at the Sticky, "C8 Problems."

The widespread issue for cars made through August 2020 was ~10 folks who had their Frunk open will driving. 2 or 3 had it flip open and cause damage to the hood. GM changed the software for cars made after ~September 1st 2020 and now has improved warnings, a special sequence to open with your FOB to reduce chance of a "cell phone like pocket call" inadvertently opening the Frunk. Most important, IF you are distracted and don't see the dash warning of "Open Frunk," car won't go past 26 mph! That will get your attention. It appears car had to be going ~35 mph to have the air lift the Frunk up so now that max 26 mph will get those folks texting while starting etc and not paying attention!

The significant issue but limited to certain cars was a bad valve spring. Was not just C8s, all LT2s and perhaps some other V8s. It typically happened within the first 500 miles. After that not likely. No count on how many were affected but a small percent of cars built in a specific time period. Dealer would change valve spring without removing a head or engine ~90% of the time.

Another wide spread issue was the 50% of folks who bought lifts. Cap leaked under certain conditions. GM just changed to a Blue different cap that looks like it solved the fluid dripping issue.

Other issues are mostly typical random occurrence "infant mortality" issues with a new car.

Sounds like lots of speculation on your part although understandable given you are awaiting delivery in the future. The reason your delivery may move to 2022 is the factory has 11,000 2021 on backorder and given the months shutdown due to COVID and part shortages from suppliers not surprised GM will be forced to move deliveries from 2021 to 2022 which has nothing to do with unsubstantiated rumors of quality problems.

Hang in there, the C8 is worth the wait
