Just use Xpel Ceramic Boost without actually having a ceramic coat. Don't believe me? Try it and find out. No need for a full ceramic coat....although make sure you do full paint correction.
I don't think people realize ceramic coated cars require regular maintenance in order to make the coating last the advertised length of time. By maintenance I mean the application of a sacrificial coating every 3-4 washes. That can add up to a lot of extra work just to maintain a ceramic coating.
I've had three vehicles ceramic coated. I was all ready to ceramic coat my C8 but decided to apply sealant instead. I figure re-applying sealant every 6 months is a lot less work than applying a sacrificial coating every month in order to make my ceramic coating last the two years the manufacturer advertises. Not to mention it was a lot cheaper than paying a detail shop for a ceramic coating.

Which ceramic coating did you go with, that requires a sacrificial coating every month? What is the sacrificial coating required by the manufacturer?
Starting with the original poster calling ceramic coatings hype, there has been a succession of ‘blind leading the blind’ responses. A few mixed in are knowledgeable, but far and few.
1) Wax has a couple qualities ceramic does not, and ceramic has a couple qualities wax does not
2) ‘hybrid’ or ‘spray on ceramic’ is NOT the ~18mo protection people charge $1200 to apply
3) max protection comes from a ceramic coat covered by a wax, then you have ALL the qualities of both
4) these aren’t binary mutually exclusive events

Two of my vehicles have Kamikaze Miyabi coating. The detailer that applied it recommended the application of Kamikaze Overcoat or Polish Angel Cosmic Spritz/High Gloss after every third or fourth wash to help maintain the durability of the Miyabi for the advertised 18-24 months.

That does seem like quite a bit of maintenance. I'm definitely not doing as much, but YMMV and all that of course.
