Not very often, but I sometime get issues on front and rear camera. I had the issue twice in the past couple of weeks (and couple of more times in the past). When this happens, I cannot turn the front camera ON (nothing happens even if I push the front camera button) and rear camera doesn't work either. Even if I turn the gear to reverse, the infotainment display shows a blue screen only. Is this just me? Just curious. Again it's not super often, but I need the rear camera especially I need to park in a narrow parking spot. If someone else is waiting, I need to give up the space. lol
Actually I'm posting this for asking this question. Is there a way to quickly restart the system or camera? When I get the issue, a solution I know for now is to turn the car OFF and wait for 5 to 6 min to get the car entirely OFF. (Even if you get off the car and lock, the system is still ON for 5 to 6 min.) As far as I experienced the issue in the past, this restarting process worked and camera started working after I turned the car back ON so I'm doing it when I get the issue.
Next time it happens, take a video of it to show the dealer, because intermittent problems are the hardest to diagnose. At least they'll be able to see the problem even if they can't reproduce it.

The cameras on my wife's 2020 Cadillac failed before we drove off the lot. But the failure was random and intermittent. I took pictures of the failure screen but the dealer said they had to see it fail. They kept it two weeks but found no failures. Also it seems they have no diagnostic equipment to pin point the problem. The cameras failed again two days after we brought it home. More discussions with service found that unless they have a hard persistent failure they have no way of fixing it.
It happened on my C8 today. I had no back up camera and pressing the front camera button nothing. It had a blank screen with a info triangle and camera icon in a circle with a line through the camera. I shut the car off and came back 20 min later and they both worked.

Yes. Actually after I posted the message, I haven't had the issue. Could be because of dry season. Not sure. Hope the issue won't come back in rainy winter.
My 2021 C8 is intermittently doing the same thing. No cameras at all, and when I put it in reverse I get a warning triangle and a picture of a circled camera with a line through it. It’s happened twice now, and if I wait a few minutes and start it again it’s ok. Did you ever figure out what was going on with yours? I’m going to take a photo of the screen with the triangle and camera image next time it happens so that I can show it to the dealer.
This is what it looks like. Next stop will be the dealer. This is what the display looks like when the camera issue happens. Occurs about once a month. Next stop will be the dealer. It will be interesting to see how they deal with an intermittent problem. If they just want to shotgun it, I may wait until it occurs more consistently.
Do you have a radar detector wired into your rear view mirror? I do, but I don’t think it’s related to the problem. Just curious if you do, too. Might be a factor if we both have radar detectors wired into the car.

Please keep us posted how it goes. They normally cannot do much unless issues are permanent, but yea I'm also interested in what they say. Your screen is slightly different from mine. In my case, the color is blighter blue and no signs/icons, but I guess it's still same kind.

And here is a picture of my camera malfunction also! Did you happen to notice this seems to happen after you have had the back engine hatch open. This has occurred on mine about 9 times already. It seems to happen after the rear hatch has been opened.
It’s not related to opening the engine hatch. I haven’t had it open for a while. (Mostly use the frunk) Do you have a radar detector wired into the rear view mirror for power? It might be related to that. I will unplug the power cable from the mirror and see if the problem goes away. May take a while due to the intermittent nature of the problem. I will show the photo to the service manager first before I take the car in. With luck, they will say “ oh, we’ve seen that before and it’s the (fill in the blank). Short of that, I’m not taking it in until it fails more consistently.
Same issue a month ago. Dealer replaced several things before getting to the issue. They always start from the easiest issue and move on till……. Ended up being a short in the main rear harness. Took them about seven days total working and waiting on parts coming in.

Would appreciate sharing with us what the dealer found. Maybe you could share what they write on the repair order as to what they found or where exactly the short circuit was by asking them. Thanks
Frustrating … I’m having the same problem now … front camera intermittently shuts off, rear camera no longer works .. gonna drop it off at the dealership
My rear camera went out a second time. Again at the track so it seems after several track days something must be heating it up and taking it out. Which there are no coax cable or harness near any of the exhaust components.
This happens on my Mustang's backup camera only on hot days. Ford put out a recall earlier this year but that rollout has been slow due to supply shortages. Based comments above, these camera systems seem to have electronics sensitive to heat.
I started a similar post over a month ago, had to have one of the front cameras replaced along with the video control module for the rear, biggest issue was waiting for the parts, approx 2 weeks. All good since

Dropped the car off for a diagnostic. They finally identified the rear camera as the issue and ordered another one. I told them I think it's the video control module also. In any case, I never leave my car at the service center any longer than I have to. So they ordered the part, when they have it in stock, I'll drop it off to have it replaced. Hopefully that fixes the problem .. fingers crossed
** EDIT** car given back, it wasn't the camera, still not working. Have to drop it back off
