Took my c8 in for a panel issue(fixed) and also rear axle system off code (3rd time) they did something that didn't work out code still appeared and turned out I need a new transmission. Service advisor saying they have a transmission for me but can't find out how to ship it???

That makes absolutely no sense. GM ships stuff like that all the time. Sounds like dealer
I read that Chevrolet/GM has gone through a few Quality chiefs in a short period of time.
Way back in the 60s one of my uncles told me he never buys the first few years of a new generation or model because it takes a while to "get the bugs out".
When I bought my first new car, a 2001 Corvette, the 5th year of C5s, it had multiple issues including a shifted sail (behind the targa top) that protruded on the right side because of assembly misalignment.
I'm wondering if GM will always prioritize ship dates over quality. My 68 required a new brake light switch every 2-6 years because the original design wasn't improved. 69s had a better design but as far as I know there were no retrofit kits for my 68.

Sorry, but that sounds strange that they don’t know how to ship it. GM ships parts all over the world. A transmission should not be that hard. I hope they ship it soon. Mine went in last week for a leaking transmission pan gasket and I am hoping that is all it is.
Damn, sorry to hear about that. Did you get a loaner?
3 malibus so far........

Might be the service advisor a new guy last time he called ppf just paint, I've been told multiple stuff. Not sure if it's BS but they did repair my bumper gap no issues compared to other stories where dealers have blamed pff installers

As in 1960? Over 60 years ago? Believe it or not, they’ve made a few improvements since then. I had a first year C6, a first year C7, and now a first year C8. Each vehicle had only one minor issue, all rectified with just one visit to the dealer. In retrospect, I’m glad I didn’t wait for the second or third model year.

@BIG Dave Interesting. So how did your water in the shock towers get "rectified"?

Have you had a chance to talk to the service manager about your case? I have a feeling there is more to the story other than they don't know how to ship the transmission, and the service manager might be able to explain what is going on in your case. If that doesn't get you anywhere, I would probably call GM's customer service line and open a case with them. That will generate a call for GM to the service manager and might speed things up some, especially if the delay really is coming from GM's side of the equation.

Thanks for the info, I did forget to mention that he said transmissions are on national backorder but then said that comment about the transmission with my name on it, so pretty confused. Will call the service manager, wondering if anyone else in the same situation as me, it's pretty frustrating

I would imagine about the same way bug splats on the windshield get rectified.

Just a couple of months ago, C8 production was shut down due to a lack of transmission parts. It would not be surprising if there are continuing supply chain issues and that spares are in very short supply.

Supply shortages have been plaguing car dealers/manufacturers for several months now. Could be your tranny is one that has fallen into that situation. Hope you get the car fixed soon - I know I would be frustrated if my car was in the shop for over 30 days.
