Just came back from the driving school and as others have said its an amazing experience. It is hard to believe the car has this kind of capability. The whole experience was exceptional and while I had reservations about going in 111 heat, they took great care of us and was not much of an issue. I loved what the PDR provides and think it will be a really valuable tool for future learning as our last instructor (Jay) was amazing at providing actionable feedback and in connecting the dots from the class room and drills. Loved all the instructors but not all were of Jay's caliber so if you go and don't feel like your getting helpful instruction, make a point of seeking someone else out with questions and ideas.

Best part was doing this with my two sons over Fathers Day. What a blessing. They both beat me in track times and in autocross and I couldn't be happier. See pic with one of my sons trailing on the track. If you're on the fence about attending, just go. It is well worth the time.

I’d like to add that the most common objection to attending the Corvette Owners School I’ve heard is, “I don’t plan to track my car, so it would just be a waste of money.” Au contraire. Physics is physics, on the track or on the street. Every minute in the classroom and on the track will make you a better driver on the street. Knowing what you and your car are capable of may give you the skill and confidence to take effective evasive action to avoid an accident. Performance driver training has done it for me and other people I know.

Seeing 100+ C8's in various combinations is pretty awesome.

I came away still preferring Red Mist which is what I bought. Seeing Sebring Orange for a much longer period of time helped me see that its much more attractive than I thought from an earlier glimpse in the shade. Rapid Blue is another color that is much nicer in person than I imagined. Not that it matters, but the pictures of those colors really stood out from the other colors.

If you wanted a bold color choice then Sebring Orange and Rapid Blue are worth considering.

What was the longest time you spent on the track at once and were there any overheating issues?

No overheating issues at all. The coolant gauge never moved too much. Staff reported that they don't have overheating issues which is pretty amazing.

We probably had 6? track slots over the two days and the longest lasted about 30 minutes. I found myself wanting more track time but also realizing I needed the class time to connect dots.

I liked that you went out on the track early before you really understood all the concepts. Its a bit of an intellectual exercise understanding what a chicane is and much easier to absorb that thought after you've felt one. Very cool.

I agree Sebring Orange is beautiful and had one of the first in my 2018 C7. Unfortunately for those who would like to order a C8 in that color, the deadline to order it has long since passed. For '22, it is being replaced by a color called "Amplify Orange," which is a non-metallic.

Taking your sons sounds like a wonderful experience. I've been 3 times and tried to get my daughter enrolled with me. It just never worked out with her busy social schedule.

It was 100F air temp outside (probably more like 110F with heat index) - the car never overheated at all, not even any brake fade. Although, I do have some tire grip going away as laps went by. But here are some stats from Cosworth Toolbox after pounding it for 12 laps on North Track B. Coolant was reading 252F max, engine oil at 266F max, trans at 237F max, RF tire goes from 30 to 41psi with temps at 225F -- I didn't think the car can handle all those in the heat, but it still felt amazing after 12 laps. Best lap time on North Track B was 1:26 on Day 2, instructor demo lap was 1:24.8 on Day 1. I learned even more about how rusty I was and what I needed to improve from studying the Cosworth Toolbox after the instructor demo lap. Amazing experience, and everyone should invest $1,000 (or $800 at the going rate) on this course before buying aftermarket wheels or any (sorry for triggering) useless mods!

If they are taking the course with you they pay the course price without discount. If they are a spectator I don’t think there is a charge, other than food.

My wife is hoping to attend the classroom training with me. They let her do it when I had got my C7 but they stopped that during COVID. But that has been relaxed now and I believe they are allowing a SO to attend the classroom training. I think it was an additional $40 for meals.

Not sure about the additional cost - but in my class, there were two attendees with accompanying guests, and the two guests also got a ride for demonstration lap around the track as well.

My wife took the complete course with me. It was right around $3,400 for her course in addition to the $1,000 for mine. THANKS Chevrolet for the offset on my course.

Great that you have a very good time at Spring Mountain. They do offer one heck of a performance school.

Anyone who buys a Corvette and doesn’t take advantage of the Corvette Owner’s School, which is heavily subsidized by GM, is really depriving him or herself of a great opportunity. A $3,400 course for $1,000 (and discounted to $800 for the summer)? What are you waiting for? I’ll be attending COS for the third time at the end of the month plus I’ve taken their Level 1 and Level 2 courses. I’ve learned something new each time. Everything you experience in COS translates to the street. You’ll be a better, safer, and more confident driver. Just do it!

I am scheduled for late August. trying to work out car situation with my wife who will be staying at a friend's house in Las Vegas. I had a friend who attended and said you don't need a car while there. The walk between places is very short, as long ss you don't want to go off site into town or something. They recommend having a car. Any thoughts on the real need if I don't need to go off site during the stay?

Thanks, Curt

You NEED a car on site. The walk from the classroom to the clubhouse (where you take your meals) is over a mile.

^ No it's not. You don't need a car on site if you'r not disabled.

perhaps you and I attended different courses in different classrooms. We were in class by the lake. That’s on the East end of the complex. Clubhouse is on the West end of the complex. Maybe I missed the shortcut.

Best advice, contact Donna and see where you will be lodged and where your classroom is.

Thanks for advice. Given there may well be different situations I'll write to them and ask. I don't mind a walk as l long as it can be reasonably done in the time allotted.
