Hello everyone, I was doing an oil change on my c8 Z51 and I acidentally turned the car on while the engine cap was off for about a min, I've noticed it and turned the car off very quickly. I don't have any check lights and I was wondering if I caused any damage or if I need to do anything about it ?

May I ask what cap are you talking about? I thought the engine had to be running to check the oil.

If that's the case it's a new on on me, as I've never heard of any Corvette oil being checked while engine is running, wet sump or dry sump......................

I've noticed today driving in traffic at low speed like 10mph on the 2nd gear the car don't drive smooth and have some kinda vibration as if I'm slighting being pushed forward. I'm not sure if it has to do anything with cap being off when I started the car or could be the way DCT works.

When did you take ownership of your car and from which dealer? No reason YOU should be performing oil and filter changes within the first 7500 miles as it is free from GM.

Completely unrelated. The cap being off caused zero issues. You could probably drive cross-country with it like that and not cause a problem (not that I am recommending or suggesting anyone try that!)
I had a Porsche that was quite sensitive to the engine being "open", if the cap was off it didn't run smoothly, but once sealed up and the cap back on, everything was as it should be and ran fine.

Yes, the engine has to be running when checking the oil level but I had the engine oil cap removed accidentally for a minute while the car were running.

Thanks Kracka, I've owned several dozen Corvettes over the last 44 years and this will be the first to check oil with engine running, This is definitely a new age for Corvettes.
