I've been going back and forth with making that same decision. For me the price difference is about **$1800.
**EDIT**
Transport is around $1800, not difference between courtesy and transport

What makes deciding even harder, is that the courtesy delivery dealer I'm considering, Stingray Chevrolet in Plant City, FL, gets both good and not so good reviews.

I also feel the problem in communication was between the OP' and the courtesy delivery dealer, and not with MacMulkin. In any event, sorry for the crappy experience the OP had to endure.

For me it was the first time I bought a car from someone I have only interacted with over phone/email. Also, I imagine their sales team is very busy (Shane/Mark), and the responsiveness on some things seemed a bit slow to me. Some of the questions I had could have been answered by a document probably.

My delivery was somewhat flubbed by miscommunication between MM and the courtesy delivery dealership nearby. #1 be prepared to WAIT, but I think what happened at my PDI was an unnecessary wait.

They wouldn't release my vehicle to me, and it sat on their lot for close to TWO WEEKS. They didn't care that I had all the paperwork (minus bill of sale), and my drivers license matched the name of the owner. They didn't care that SHANE had sent them an email saying "release the car to him!" (which they showed me). They needed an authenticated / notarized BILL OF SALE which MM then had to send to this dealer. They didn't communicate this to MM though and were just sitting on their hands waiting for the bill of sale. As a result, I had to drive 150 miles twice to get my car.

I would call MM and they would tell me the PDI dealer would call me when the vehicle was ready. (at this point MM had told me the vehicle was shipped and arrived at PDI dealer already). I called the PDI dealer and they did NOT want to talk to me on the phone at all. "WHO ARE YOU???". "I am the owner of the sebring orange C8 and want to know when PDI will be done and can pickup my car." Response, "Yeah, you will get a call from MM when it is ready. CLICK!". So MM told me PDI would call me, and PDI told me MM would call. Nobody was calling me after a week, so I drove up there to find out what the hell was going on. The manager at the PDI dealer finally explained why he wouldn't release the car, so we got MM on the phone and got the bill of sale transmitted. Then the PDI dealer told me his shop tech had been taken away by ambulance to the hospital because he passed out and they thought he had COVID19. So I had to come back the next week after the PDI had been completed.

It was the worst experience I have ever had purchasing (or at least picking up) a vehicle in my life. They call this a courtesy delivery. I would use a different word than "courtesy". More like the final birthing pains for my C8.

This scenario is the one of the reasons Kerbeck (historically) discouraged courtesy deliveries. They will do it but will advise you to pick and choose your courtesy delivery dealer carefully. The other main reason is if there is a defect in the car, a high volume dealer that does a ton of PDI's is more likely to pick it up and get the issue rectified than a low volume dealer that doesn't do many at all. Once the car is in the hands of the courtesy delivery dealer, the selling dealer's hands are tied as far as getting things remedied. The selling dealer is usually the one that gets the bad survey under a situation like this and that counts against the selling dealer and the salesperson.

I hope MM has some courtesy deliveries they worked with somewhat local and have had good easy transactions with when I do mine. Really don't want to make the drive up and back down which would be around 15hrs one way. Not to mention the possible road damage/sand blasted, bugs etc before getting the front filmed up on the way back home.

You and me both ! MM is 24hrs one way from me !! So flying there and driving back is out of the question lol. I'm praying for a smooth Courtesy delivery. Shipping with Intercity will run me about 2k so I'm trying to avoid that as well

I'm on the same sheet. Stingray would also be my courtesy receiving dealership.

You can put on a temporary PPF such as TracWrap to get you home and the you should have a pristine car (where you wrap it) on which to get the final PPF installed. This is the direction I'm considering...

Funny you mentioned this as after my post I started looking into possible wrapping it myself temporary. When I was young and drove to car shows a good ways away I would use painters tape over my carbon fiber hood and bumpers then remove when I get there. Then repeat when I left the show. This was full weekend shows not just one day. So considered this and or just go with the museum delivery and that would be a closer drive. Maybe like cutting the drive in half.

It happens... my experience in 2015 was very similar, salesman was a pr**k, po'd because it was his turn to do one, spent more time telling me what he wouldn't do rather than what he would including releasing my car. Fortunately the GM President's office took up the case and eventually locked his heels and had him smilin like Roanald McDonald. Priceless.

Trying to find a courtesy dealer delivery here in Vegas as well. All the local options SUCK. Rather than deal with these people, I'm looking to have it shipped via enclosed transport across the country...yippee.

Clarification to my post #21

Transport estimates are coming in at around $1800 - not that the difference between transport and courtesy delivery is that much.

Still, though, I'm not getting a warm and fuzzy feeling having Stingray do the courtesy delivery.

I've been seeing people getting courtesy delivery for around $250-$500 that's a big difference from the $1800 . Too bad all the dealers in my area are completely garbage and I wouldn't trust them to touch my c8 😭😭.

Have done Intercity, Inc. from MacMulkin for my C7 and doing it for my C8 to Florida. Want them to do the PDI and the cost difference is not that much about an additional $500.00 not bad for a car in my opinion is well worth the bang for the $$$, as I will pay MSRP and no fees and save the cost of courtesy delivery from someone I never did business with before. C7 arrived at my home in excellent condition and drove it trouble free for 18 months before I sold it .
