Default MacMulkin process

As an almost 1st time Corvette owner hoping someone can help me with the process. I. have ordered my C8 through MM ( 944) and plan to have museum delivery. Can someone let me know about when I will be notified, when I will need to pay MM the full amount ofd the vehicle, what $ if any will be due at the museum delivery, etc. Thanks in advance!

Didn't MacMulkin explain details to you? They are typically good communicators.
I wouldn't be too concerned at this point as being 944 on their list, you will probably not be receiving your C8 for close to a year......................
There is no "second deposit" at MM (unless somethings really changed). As you get closer to the range where they'll match your order to an allocation, they'll likely email you with your build again to make sure it's what you want. Read it over carefully, and make sure, because once it goes in, you don't even want to try and change it. Then, once your car is built (3800 status) and through QC (4000 status), GM will invoice MM. Then, MM in turn will reach out to you, and begin discussing the financial arrangements with you. In there somewhere, you'll be contacted by the museum to set up your delivery date. There is some back and forth in there, that's going to be different for everyone, but that is the general outline of how it worked with me (with the exception of museum delivery portion)

Thanks. Is there a form I need to fill out and send to MM for the museum delivery?

It's an option on the build, cost is 1k. Once it is optioned the NCM will be the ones arranging your delivery with you once car is built. No additional form with Macmulkin IIRC.

That's correct, I was confusing MacMulkin's process with another high-volume dealer (Criswell) where you put down $1,000 to get on waiting list, then another $1,000 at C8 allocation assignment.

Yes, the R8C Acknowledgemet form (single sheet I recall) includes things like what you want on the plaque placed between the seats, and also binds you to pay shipping charges if you do not complete the transaction and MM has to ship it from BG to Nashua.

Does that option offset the usual delivery or destination charge?

Nope. GM destination charge of $1095 applies whether the car goes across the country or across the street to the NCM.

MacMulkin sold 778 Corvettes in 2020. With Covid and parts shortages in 2020 I would guess, at 944th on the list, would be eleven months away.

I honestly believe that MM needs to put together a DOCUMENT that they send to customers. It should walk them through the process once they have placed their deposit to level-set expectations and would probably help to demystify the process of buying a vehicle from someone you will probably never meet in person.
For me it was the first time I bought a car from someone I have only interacted with over phone/email. Also, I imagine their sales team is very busy (Shane/Mark), and the responsiveness on some things seemed a bit slow to me. Some of the questions I had could have been answered by a document probably.

My delivery was somewhat flubbed by miscommunication between MM and the courtesy delivery dealership nearby. #1 be prepared to WAIT, but I think what happened at my PDI was an unnecessary wait.

They wouldn't release my vehicle to me, and it sat on their lot for close to TWO WEEKS. They didn't care that I had all the paperwork (minus bill of sale), and my drivers license matched the name of the owner. They didn't care that SHANE had sent them an email saying "release the car to him!" (which they showed me). They needed an authenticated / notarized BILL OF SALE which MM then had to send to this dealer. They didn't communicate this to MM though and were just sitting on their hands waiting for the bill of sale. As a result, I had to drive 150 miles twice to get my car.

I would call MM and they would tell me the PDI dealer would call me when the vehicle was ready. (at this point MM had told me the vehicle was shipped and arrived at PDI dealer already). I called the PDI dealer and they did NOT want to talk to me on the phone at all. "WHO ARE YOU???". "I am the owner of the sebring orange C8 and want to know when PDI will be done and can pickup my car." Response, "Yeah, you will get a call from MM when it is ready. CLICK!". So MM told me PDI would call me, and PDI told me MM would call. Nobody was calling me after a week, so I drove up there to find out what the hell was going on. The manager at the PDI dealer finally explained why he wouldn't release the car, so we got MM on the phone and got the bill of sale transmitted. Then the PDI dealer told me his shop tech had been taken away by ambulance to the hospital because he passed out and they thought he had COVID19. So I had to come back the next week after the PDI had been completed.

It was the worst experience I have ever had purchasing (or at least picking up) a vehicle in my life. They call this a courtesy delivery. I would use a different word than "courtesy". More like the final birthing pains for my C8.

Sounds like you picked the wrong "courtesy" dealer - but how could you know?
Maybe they were ticked at not getting the sale themselves, or by delaying they got to have your car to show to potential customers for 2 weeks...
Or maybe it was just a typical human screw up. You have my sympathy - whatever the reason.

Hopefully they dont raise the museum fee. Might not be worth it especially if you can't tour the factory.

Seems like the courtesy delivery dealer screwed u over. I plan on getting a courtesy delivery as well but am now reluctant. I may just pay the extra cost to have MM do PDI and ship me the car

MM sent me a form to fill out for the museum delivery. I had to tell them exactly what I wanted on the plaque that goes in the car. I filled it out and sent it back to them via email.
