Default Drove C8

I got to drive my buddies C8 today, and I have to admit I am impressed with the car. The car looks so much better in person. My biggest concern WAS the DCT transmission. I gotta admit it’s pretty slick. I have one on order so it was pretty cool to drive one.

My M7 C7 Vert parked next to it

Drove my friends C8 really liked the interior but to beat a dead horse still can not walk away from my M7 Z06 Vert which is a whole different driving experience.

Yeah we both daily drive them, cars don’t mind. I got a ceramic coating on mine so it’s real easy to keep clean.

I might be able to get over the Transformer wannabe rear end if only it had a manual trans... [sigh]

Honestly it is not the difference in generations this time . It is now a Corvette by name only. It has always been a Front Engine Sports Car/ Muscle car but with the C8 GM went European and made it a Mid Engine Exotic/Supercar.. If you like Supercars than you will Love the C8 but if you do not like Exotic Supercars like myself than it is a big disappointment to a lot of us that can not get used to its looks. Good Luck and enjoy your C8 hopefully as much as I am enjoying my C7.

Nice looking C8 your friend has and great that you got the opportunity to drive one. Now you know what to expect when yours gets built.

If life circumstances were to allow it, the solution would be to have one of each.

I totally loved my C7. Best car I ever owned. But I’ve loved mid-engined sports cars since I first laid eyes on the Ford GT40 in 1964. I even built the Monogram model! Needless to say, the Lambo Muira blew me away.

I went so far as to own a Fiat X1/9 until it rusted out from under me. So the C8 is impossible for me to resist. Fortunately, I see it as every bit a Vette. Just as Mr. Arkus-Duntov would have had he gotten his mid-engine wish 50 years ago…

1. Just like you. My C7 (now sold) was hands down, the best and most rewarding car I ever owned. I'll miss that car.
2. I used to sell Fiats; they all rusted. They rusted so bad, that when we took the brand new Fiats off the delivery truck, they were already rusting. By the time they sat on the lot for a month, they looked more like they had been sitting in a junkyard. Amazing...
3. I agree. The C8 is impossible to resist. I actually think the C7 is still a "prettier" car (in the classic sense), but the C8 has an exotic vibe that can't de denied...

Cheers...

To each his own. Not everyone wants or likes a Corvette of any generation. I love the C8 and let go my then all time favorite C6 427 Vert to get it. I am very happy with mine, even with the PDR issues I am having.

I've ;pved every Vette I've owned (7) and the C-8 is by far the best one yet. People that won't buy a C-8 because it doesn't have a 'manual' transmission are simply ignorant about how much fun a paddle shift car can be. Moat likely still have flip phones too.

I don’t even like manual transmissions, but it’s a little ridiculous to say those that won’t by a C8 because of a lack of MT are being ignorant. Their preferences are just as valid as yours. I definitely know a few race track instructors who would never buy a DCT and if I could drive a MT the way they can, I might feel the same way. I’ll be the first to admit that I prefer the DCT because my MT skills were average at best.

Some people can't handle change. The world moves on. They're both great cars, but the C8 is so much better in so many ways.

Was the car "no longer a Corvette" when they put a V8 in it? Put a hardtop roof on it? Got rid of round taillights and hidden headlights?

To each his own, but the DCT will beat tlheir stick shift (with equal drivers) around a track every day of the week. I hated giving up my manual (first car I ever bought for myself without one), but on the track there is simply no question a DCT is far superior. No matter how good they are, they can't shift in 100 ms with the power on.

I will comment once this thread got moved from C7 general to C8 general by a moderator as I would never have made this post in the C8 section. FLAME ON!!!!!
