Default waiting time for a C8 corvette

Hello everyone, I still waiting to place my order from the dealer here in Quebec city. New to this forum and maybe you peoples will answers some of my questions. How long average we are waiting to get the C8 corvette. i was at the dealer in august 2020 and still did not contact me for placing my final order.

Next : Thinking for the different options, Magnetic ride control worth the extra money and also the lifting system in front of the car. Specially the great road we have here in quebec.

- The ceramic coating or the ppf protection for the car. What should i take for the car.
thanks again everyones

Did you leave a deposit? Leaving a deposit is like getting on line for the c8. If you didnt leave a deposit and was promised they will call you when they have an allocation is soley based on the integrity of the dealership. I wouldnt hold my breathe. Now if you did leave a deposit the usual wait time is 10-18 months depending on your dealership

It took 14 months from deposit to delivery from a medium-size dealership here in Ohio that orders about 20 Corvettes per model year.

I have the mag ride shocks and front lift on my C8. Both, in my opinion, are worth the money.

I have ceramic coating and PPF on two of my cars. To do both is not cheap. I'm going in a different direction with my C8. I bought a Novistretch bra for use on those extended highway trips where a lot of the paint damage can occur. And instead of ceramic coating, I've applied a paint sealant and wax. The downside is I'm going to have to apply the sealant and wax more often. but even if you have a ceramic coating, you still have to apply a sacrificial coating over the top of it every 4th or 5th wash to maintain the advertised durability of the coating. I don't see the sealant and wax being a big disadvantage.

The C8 is a fun car to drive. I tell people it's like driving a fancy go-kart. I get a lot of compliments on the car. A lot of people at first glance think it's a Ferrari or Lamborghini. I also have a 2017 manual transmission Camaro ZL1 in my automotive stable. The two cars are like oil and water when it comes to the driving experience.

My biggest disappointment with the C8 is the DCT transmission. It shifts fast as everyone says, but I don't particularly care for it at low speeds like when you're in a parking lot or pulling in the garage. It can get a little jerky. If you're a manual guy like I am, it can get a little boring too. I mostly drive in manual mode just to have some connection with the car.

Comfort-wise, it's excellent. I have the 2LT trim with the GT2 seats. Very comfortable car on a long trip. I drove it from Florida to Ohio in April. No back or butt pain. Very comfortable trip. I've got two bad knees so getting in and out of the car can be an adventure just because my knees don't bend very well. But that's not the car's fault.

Overall you won't be disappointed with the C8. For the first version of a mid-engine car, the Corvette team hit it out of the ballpark.

Experiences in the US may not be the same as what you will experience in Canada in terms of waiting times. However, what is very important to understand is how many allocations your dealer gets and where you are on their waiting list. Ask you dealer how many allocations they got for 2021 model year. Then ask them what number you are on their waiting list. Let's say they got 23 C8 allocations for 2021 and you are currently number 44 on their wait list. That would put you nearly 2 years out (44/23 per year = 1.9 years) from them being able to submit your order to GM.

Ceramic coating and PPF accomplish two different things. Ceramic coating will do noting to help prevent paint chips from road debris. PPF will. I would recommend PPF for the areas that are subject to road rash and then ceramic coat on everything (paint and PPF). Areas most subject to road rash are the front fascia, hood, front fenders, side mirrors and lower sides. The most important factor in PPF is finding a quality installer.

The latest info we have on dealers in Canada that are selling at MSRP are:

Yes - Bill Spencer Chevrolet- Cobourg, ON
Yes - Brian Cullen Motors - St. Catharines, ON
Yes - Finch Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, Cadillac- London, ON

absolutely right Zymurgy, The dealer here in Quebec last years had 23 allocations. In June, i did not know where i was in the waiting lines. call the dealer for this information and told me i was the 20th. figure maybe around December should order the car ( crossing my fingers). in those 20th person maybe some of them will pass there turn.

For the PPF and the ceramic coating , i thought the same thing. where most of the areas are subject rocks and dirt. i will put PPF protection ( front of the car and the front of the rear wheels) that add some issue and then will add ceramic coating all over. thanks for your info.

Check on the internet, 95 % of the C8 corvettes are sold in the U.S. - the rest are all over... i never, never in my mind thought would buy a corvette, but the C8 just amazing.
Very happy with this corvette forum, tell me everything i need to know for the cars and the options that peoples experiencing with old corvettes and new one.
Never seated in this new corvette yet, putting more money into this car than my first house haha It's my wife retirement gift hope she love it..
thanks have some fun...
