Default Must Have Options

Hi all,

Placed my order yesterday for a 2022 2LT Z51 HTC at a smallish local dealer who usually receives 10-12 cars a year. At order I was told I was #7 on the list, but they called back last night and said I was really #3 because the others were in-line for the Z06. For those of you who have your cars already, what are the "must haves" as opposed to the "don't bothers". Looks like we may have to firm this order up a lot faster than I originally figured.

Thanks for the input
Steve

There is little consensus and everyone is going to tell you to spec it just like they spec’d their cars. The next 3 pages of the thread will be people arguing back and forth between 1LT vs 2LT vs 3LT; Z51 vs non-Z51; mag ride vs non-mag ride; front lift vs non-front lift; GT1 vs GT2 seats (most are too large for the competition sport seats and that is about the only consensus); etc.

There is a list floating around here in the forum showing a detailed breakdown of sales by GM of the various options, including percentages. That is a pretty good summary of what the recommendations will be here. Also, if you use the search function you will find many, many threads discussing these topics.

I think the must have options are Z51 and 2lt as I would not consider a used one without these two options.

Everyone's "Must Have" will likely be a bit different.

For me it was the Coupe 3LT Lift Z51 and two tone Sky Gray interior with Ceramic Matrix Gray Metallic and Edge Red Brake Calipers.

Here is how I spec’d my car:

Torch Red HTC with body color roof and nacelles, CFM painted mirrors and spoiler
Z51
mag ride
front lift
3LT with the HXO interior
competition sport seats
etc.

My 2 cents:

Of my options I value the HTC most followed by my interior.

For those that plan on selling the car relatively soon, the Z51 package will retain most of its value in the used market. In the used market the 1LT cars on average sell for about $5,000 less than the 2LT cars, even though new the 2LT option costs $7,300 more (on a coupe). On average, in the used market the 3LT cars don’t sell for a whole lot more than the 2LTs.

I'd say the 2lt is a must have ! It gives u a good number of interior upgrades along with features that the 1lt just doesn't have.

^^^^^ +1. Spot on.

Though others have and will post their cosmetic preferences, I’m assuming you have your own aesthetic and don’t need others to tell you what interior/exterior color combination to get. Other aesthetic choices you have to make for yourself are black/silver wheels, std carbon flash vs. body color accents, roof type (coupe) and carbon flash roof/nacelles (convertible), stripes/decals, low/high/no wing, CF interior trim, etc. Lots of threads here on every one of these choices complete with pictures - enjoy yourself!

So assuming you want know about function options, here are some thoughts.

1. If money is no object order everything. Seriously. Why not?
2. 1LT if you need to save money, otherwise definitely 2LT. 3LT only if there’s a color interior you HAVE to have and isn’t available in 2LT.
3. Z51 only if you intend to track it and/or you care greatly about resale, understanding that you won’t get dollar for dollar for it someday.
4. NPP exhaust is a must. To me. You asked for opinions…that’s mine. It’s a must!
5. Magnetic ride control for sure, though I don’t have it on my Z51 C7 and I don’t actually miss it…
6. Front end lift only if you frequent someplace with a difficult driveway AND you order/will add a front splitter.
7. GT2 seats are more of an aesthetic choice - some difference functionally (more aggressive bolsters) but not orders of magnitude difference than GT1. If money not an issue, get GT2, if looking where to save money, GT1’s are terrific.

There you go. Congrats on getting the opportunity, have fun!

Here’s that list that’s floating around…

Does most common equate to “Must Have”, probably not, but here’s the stats anyway…

Coupe over HTC 59%
3LT for HTC 62%
2LT for Coupe 47% vs other options
Z51 + Mag Ride 46% vs all other combos
Standard Calipers over optional painted 51%
Painted Roof 77%
NPP Exhaust 87%
Front Lift 61%
GT2 Seats 60%
Carbon Flash Wheels 39% vs all other options

(Other options came in under 50%).

NPP is really the only "must have" and the car would seem like an odd ball without.

2LT imo (has most all you’d want that’s also in the 3LT)
Make sure you know whether you want a coupe or convertible
If you want the high wing, get it at build so you don’t have to remove the rear to install it later
Z51
Front lift if you have steep driveway
I’d forego the MSRC. People say they love it, I still have yet to tell a difference, it’s a useless option imo.

I also find the blind spot indicators on the side mirrors to be very useful.

The HTC 1LT also has the rearview mirror camera, but not the front cameras.

HTC / 2LT - everything else is gravy...and that's how I spec'd mine. I'm sure Z51 is nice, as are mag-ride and front lift, but for my purposes / budget, it just didn't meet the threshold in terms of cost / benefit.

We're CA / FL people, so HTC was a must, and 2LT over 1LT just makes sense in terms of value and what you get for it. Oh yeah, GT2 seats as well so that we could get the two-tone look. IMO, why spend 70-80k on a car and not get the interior that you really want? I just don't like the look of the GT1 seats...

Nothing is a "must have." Including the car.

But for me, enough of the features of the 2LT are important enough to pay for that trim level. I think MSRC is pretty close to a must have. It's just a game changer on public roads. And the HTC was a must have for me, but obviously not for most. Oh, and NPP is pretty close to a must have unless you prefer your cars quiet.

Front lift might be a must have depending on the road, storm drain and driveway apron situations where you live.

I personally don't think Z51 or 3LT are must haves, but others will disagree.

The C8 never gets the high wing installed at the factory. It ships separately to the dealer, and they remove the rear to install the wing.

My Must Haves for 2022 HTC
1) Performance Exhaust
2) 2LT
3) Rear Spoiler. (Low Spoiler)

Wouldn't enjoy the car nearly as much without these, so they are essential can't live withouts.

My Wants that I am getting:
1) Red Calipers
2) MAG Ride
3) Trident Spectra Gray Wheels
4) GT2 Seats, Two-tone

My One Luxury Item I am splurging on:
1) Nacelles and Roof Carbon Flash

My Wants I'm Not Getting
1) Colored Seat Belt
2) Carbon Flash Ground Effect
3) 3LT

My Don’t Wants
1) Z51
2) The remaining options

I'm thinking the 2lt is the sweet spot as others have indicated. I just ordered another car this week and really struggled with going to the 3LT. Other then a unique interior selection which was nice but not worth the extra money I "settled" for another 2lt.

Z51 is a track or no track option.

All else is pretty nit picky. You wont be disappointed in the base suspension nor the base exhaust.

No bad choices.

I would say consider the things that can’t be added after the fact. In my case I would add front lift and carbon fiber interior trim if I were to do it again…

3. Z51 not for tracking only if you want better cooling, better brakes, and more choices for ride setting if you opt for mag ride. Bingo on resale value.
