Default Launch Control

I noticed that in several posts we are to hold down the brake until the RPM hits 3500. I have also seen, one that states that the car will automatically goes to the proper RPM.

Why is it that the Max RPM I get at launch is only about 1,600? That's not even close to 3500. If in deed the car automatically levels off at the proper RPM, then wouldn't it be closer to 3,500? At what RPM at launch are you seeing? Thanks!

Notice my RPM at launch. My time was 3.1, which I had at all 3 launches. That seems to be about right, but the RPM seems way too low,

I haven’t played with launch control yet, but if it’s anything like the way I used to drag race I’d have to back off the throttle to minimize wheel slip. If I tried to drop the clutch at a high rpm, I’d just end spinning the wheels and going nowhere.

havent tried mine yet, but I believe you really have to press hard on the brake ,,, that may be your issue

Yes, really hard on the brake or else it won't go to 3500 rpm.

You also need to be in track mode, and PTM or competitive driving mode depending on your options.

The sequence, as I understand it on my Z51, is:
  • Track mode
  • Double tap traction button
  • Choose performance traction management setting (Z51 only)
  • Left foot brake HARD
  • Floor gas
  • Lift brake and pray

Not sure of traction or management setting steps.

Put the car in track or z mode. Come to a complete stop. Keep steering straight. Push brake hard and then keep pushing. It goes almost to the floor. Floor the gas. Release brake and hold on.

They have you practice it at spring mountain... You adjust the settings properly then it is 100% brake and 100% throttle... Release the brake when you are ready. That's it.

Sport or Track mode. PTM engaged (or competitive driving if you don't have Z51). And JAMMM on the brake pedal.
This is what I did wrong the first times I tried. Dont underestimate when people are saying you need to really push hard on the brake.

I mean you gotta put your foot down on it like you are trying to push it thru the floor! (don't worry, its metal, you're not, it'll be fine)

No kidding. do that - and you'll get your 3600rpm.
Have fun! Its a blast. First time I did it right it was awesome. Now its a piece of cake.

I don't see your traction control light on your dash. Make sure you push the traction control twice before you use your launch control.
