Yep that’s good news since it hasn’t changed since they first announced it.
My TPW is 9/13 but I have been reading that some 2021’s have moved up so it’s possible that some of the 2022 9/13 TPW’s may do the same.
Keeping my fingers crossed that there will be no delays at the BG assembly plant.
GM Authority: "In July, GM Authority was the first to report that the 2022 Corvette is set to begin production in early September. Now, we have received further information that puts a specific date on the event. So then, the 2022 CorvetteStingray SORP (Start of Regular Production) will commence at the GM Bowling Green plant on September 6th, according to GMAsources familiar with the matter. As always, this date of course is subject to change as a result of a myriad of factors.
"
Monday Sept 6th is Labor day, is the plant actually open on Labor day?
Monday Sept 6th is Labor day, is the plant actually open on Labor day?
No, 9/6 is a negotiated holiday, so the plant most likely won't be open. I think GM Authority's "source" isn't as familiar with how things are working as they'd like us to believe. We have recently confirmed 2021 orders with a 9/6 tpw. We also have 2022 orders with a 9/6 tpw. GM has told the dealer network that they plan to start 2022 production the week of 9/6. So, I believe it's very likely we will see a scenario that on one of the 4 production days during the week of 9/6, MY2021 will end, and right behind it will come the first MY2022, exactly like how it worked between MY2020 and MY2021. I think we'll be able to get a reasonable estimate as those 2021's with 9/6 tpws go to 3400 and report their partial vins.
There is also the chance that the 9/6 2021's get finished earlier than planned. But in any event, it's not very likely any C8 is produced on 9/6 as is implied by the linked article.
Does this SORP 9/6 TPW mean all allocated 2021's (event code 3000 and higher) will be produced and no carry over like what happened in 2020 to 2021?
This is exactly the same as what happened in 2020 to 2021. All 2020 orders at 3000 or above were built. Same is true for 2021 - all orders at 3000 or above will be built. All orders at 1100 for 2020 MY when the order books were closed became null and void and had to be re-entered as 2021 orders. The same is true of 2021 orders that were at 1100. When Chevy announced the end of 2021 orders cycles, all orders not at 3000 became void and have to be re-entered as 2022 orders. Dealers have already begun that process for the initial 2022 MY order cycles.
They are still starting production the week of 9/6 which is a Monday through Friday week. Just because they are closed on 9/6 doesn’t change the fact that it’s still the production week of 9/6.
In a couple years the 2022 will be preferred over the 2021 and it will show in resale value.
Well, it actually could be worse. You could have one of those dilapidated, old, and outdated 2020's that came off the line in December. And presto, 8 months later, it's two years old. They should be piling up in the "pick-a-part" yards any day now....
