A cheaper battery power driver with a 1/4 in socket adapter. 1/4 and 3/8 socket set. 12v power testing probe (looks like an icepick with an alligator clip tail). Nylon trim prybar set. Soldering gun. Electrical tape. Driver set for power driver including Phillips and Torx bits. Combination wrench. Multimeter. LED headlight for you to wear. Service manual (on CD at eBay for 40). GM fastener assortment from Amazon or eBay. These are all things I use all the time. I didn’t repeat any good items others posted, like oil filter wrench.

Please don't use a "12v power testing probe" with just a single alligator clip tail on any modern car. That's what is referred to as a test light. It draws current to power the internal circuitry, which also will provide a tiny ground/current through the tip. This is enough to damage many circuits and modules. It can also deploy an airbag if probing some circuits. There are a few test probes that are available that are airbag safe, but one with a single ground or power connection should not be used. Stick with a multimeter.
Suggestions for an OBD2 scanner/resetter?
Adapter to a phone application or a dedicated cable handheld?
edit to add clarification: would want to be able to read and reset any code. For example C8 specifics like brake assist, clutch, transmission and brake codes. Under $200?

If you just want to read and reset basic codes then just about any wired unit is fine. They are easy to connect. If you want more information and capability then the phone adapters are an option. I use an OBDLink MX+ but it isn't as simple as the OBD readers you just plug into the port. Or you can go for the big bucks scanners.

ooh! I did not know that! That tool was the invaluable when finding a fuse I want to tap into! I guess I’ll need to make a long ice-pick probe for my multimeter.

Thanks for the suggestions. Helped me put together a good shopping list. Just need to finalize the torque wrench. So many options and I'm a stickler for accuracy.
