Default Hood cannot open. AGAIN.

Build date is July 20, 2021. Dealer found the frunk was not able to open electronically on August 7, the day when I was originally planning to take delivery. Had to wait for one more week so that the dealership can have it fixed and deliver the car to me on August 14.

Now after only a month and 260 miles, same issue occurred AGAIN! Issue is exactly the same as described here, but seems like nobody has ever experienced the same problem a second time.

Since I'm now super afraid of 1) visiting the dealership and 2) handing over my key to anyone else, it would be great if this is something I can fix myself. Last time the salesman told me they replaced a fuse and the entire frunk latch, but I'm a bit doubtful if that's 100% accurate. Maybe he made it sound more complicated and professional in order to let me feel assured. Hoping someone can post a service bulletin here that can save us a trip to the dealership. Any other related info and discussion will also be appreciated!

Another option is to forget about the electronic frunk release, and always use the ring hidden in the footwell - you know how awkward that is. If I, a 5'10", 170lb 28 year-old, feel reluctant to use that on a regular basis, I guess nobody would not.

Anyways, good job GM has done! Having been owning a camaro for 3 years, I already got mentally prepared for chevy's world-class quality long before I took delivery of the C8. They still managed to exceed my expectations!

Below are the Issues I've experienced after one month of C8 ownership:
1. damaged rear window defroster lines - dealership replaced the rear window, leaving me a dirty car and a scratched key fob
2. headlight rubs off paint on the bumper - thinking about getting this fixed toward the end of my B2B warranty
3. this frunk issue - hoping to find a way to deal with it myself.

Already feeling lucky for not having any leaking issue so far. I do check the front lift reservoir weekly, and use a wrist sweatband around the cap as a precaution.

You could get all your money back and probably a nice profit if you sell it now. As far as Chevy quality goes I have had excellent luck with all my Chevy’s and I have owned many brands including Honda, BMW and Audi. Why torture yourself with another Chevy after your horrible experience with your Camaro. Have your dealer fix it again and start shopping there are lots of great cars out there.

Having a brand new car without leaks is not something the car owner should feel lucky about.

Open the hood with the ring in the footwell. Leave the hood open and simulate it closing with a bolt or something closing the latch. Use the bumper pushbutton and see what is going on when you try to open the hood. You may need a volt meter.
