Default Car arrived at dealership today

Allocation on 10-14-21. The car arrived at the dealership 12-14-21. Been snowing off and on here in northern Utah. Looks like good weather this weekend, so I will make the 45 minute drive on Saturday to pick it up.

UPDATE!! False Alarm! Even though the Corvette Blogger posted this image this morning, he has clarified that it was taken back in September! Still hoping for the best from the finished and staged cars!

I'm guessing that's probably not your car then, huh?

Heads up everybody. My vin was 10109 and scheduled to be built this past Monday the 13th according to the spreadsheet here. I just got a call from my dealer that my car was actually built last Thur/Friday. Unfortunately, it was damaged and has to be rebuilt. He said all of the damaged cars are going to go back to the front of the line. If you had a Vin # somewhere around mine, there is a chance your car was built and is fine hopefully.

Sorry to hear about that. What was damaged on your car such that they need to rebuild it. Sounds serious.

Picking mine up on the 23rd. With all that's going on, I was surprised to get Shane's email yesterday saying the car would be at the museum by the end of the day and that I could schedule pick up as early as the 20th. My dealer is out of state so I figured I'd allow a little cushion for financial paperwork, etc. to go back and forth. So many forms are signed electronically nowadays wish there were an option for that.

They didn't know, the email from the plant didn't have any specifics.

Something's not adding up. We have a pretty good history of VIN tracking, and the last one reported for 12/10 was 10026. I am not doubting what your dealer told you, but I don't believe that is true, at least not exactly. As I think about it, I bet either 1) he got you mixed up with someone else (that would be great for you, obviously), or 2) your car was ON the assembly line, and had the misfortune of being damaged either by the tornado, or maybe more likely, by the efforts to control the fire (i.e., fire retardant spray and/or water).

#2 seems more likely, since it would have come OFF the assembly line around the end of 1st shift Monday, had the tornado not occurred, so it would be right in the middle of the line, and the fact that any cars that were already built, based on info so far, were NOT damaged after being completed and rolled off the line (other than those at the NCM).

So it's probably semantics that he said your car was BUILT, when it was probably more likely BEING BUILT.

I would imagine this is of no real help at all, other than as a possible explanation to why your VIN doesn't line up with data, but wanted to throw it out for consideration.

I'm just saying what I was told. He said it was already built and he needed to submit another order so he asked if there was anything that I wanted to change from my old order. The sequencing of the Vin's was my first thought and maybe they were off. Your assumption of #2 may be 100% correct, but we will probably never really know.

Yup, and that is why I was so surprised to get the call. I just assumed the spreadsheet was not quite as accurate as we thought. Who knows....

yeah, definitely not doubting you. Factory could have just simplified it to the dealer or dealer simplified it to you. Fully or partially built doesn’t matter at this point, since it has to start over, so maybe somewhere along the chain of communication someone just didn’t feel like going into the nuance.

same here with vin 10083. Predator had 10109 and notified of damage. I have not heard anything from dealer, but haven't since the October allocation. I expect there are varying degrees of damage on the production line and they are sorting through it all.

My vin is 9079. C8R #864 It was built on Friday 12/03/21. Dealer told me today it’s still in BG and there isn’t any other info. Hopefully it’s not one of those cars that falls into a QC black hole. I know they have their hands full & it’s only a car that I don’t need…but man I get so jealous seeing cars produced after mine already at dealerships. 1st world problems are so hard 😂
