In Virginia, every dealer has a "doc fee" that runs around $600. That's a fee they apply to every car they sell.
When I bought my C7 my dealer quoted an $8-900 documentation fee...when the car arrived they dropped it to $350 without me asking anything about it. From what I've heard it varies, but is pretty common these days.
I just came back from my local dealer. They have a white c8 for 30k over msrp. I asked about z06 and they said minimum 50k ADM. He also tried to tell me i couldn't find a better deal.
Glad my deposit is with MM.
Considering the market, 900 is nothing to even take a second look at. Enjoy your new car.
It's common for Atlanta area new car dealers to charge high doc fees, from around $500 up to $900 on each sale. I remember when they were $45. but as they say "that was then, this is now."
I believe MM had a doc fee, but if I recall they backed the fee out of the MSRP, so essentially you weren't paying the fee (above MSRP) but it was listed on your paperwork.
If you finance the vehicle via the dealership, they will make some points on the interest you pay. They always have a "deal" with the bank.
I agree they do charge an admin fee as shown on BOS but bottom line is you are still just paying MSRP and no other fees or high pressure sales. I have bought two corvettes from them and would be the first to contact for another. And all the dealers near me charge doc fees + here in Florida.
As others have said, it is quite common on most new cars. I paid roughly the same amount when I picked up mine, but I knew the amount at the time I placed the order so no shenanigan's with the price at delivery. Honestly, I would not let the additional dollars sway you from enjoying the s..t of the car. Once you drive it you'll quickly forget the extra $$ and you won't be able to stop smiling.
My newly ordered C8 is supposed to be in the dealership next week and I've been discussing price with them. The dealership is selling me the car at MSRP...however, they informed me that there is a fee of a little over $900 they always charge on new vehicles. This is not for registration or transportation/shipping. He said they don't do the add on expenses like some dealerships (tinted windows, undercoating, etc.), but do have this flat fee they add on every new car. Honestly, I've waited so long to get this car (as everyone does right now), and I'm not willing to go elsewhere and wait longer or pay 10k to 40k over MSRP for the car. Having said that, does anyone out there think I should push back on this a bit? Thanks.
I would tell them not to undercoat the car as nothing to rust. Try to get a small credit for that. All new cars are guaranteed not to rust.
If I buy a $4 beer at a bar, I tip the barmaid $1.... if you buy a $70K car, you have to tip the dealer $600... same difference... when daddy eats, even the dogs get fed.
Now here in Camelot there is no Sales Tax.... yeah... but that only applies to attract carpet-baggers from Gomorrah to come down 'cross the border, and buy cheap booze...
If you live here, they whack you 4.5% to register a vehicle whether you already own it or not... but it's not a "TAX", because they don't believe in TAXES, god forbid... in Camelot, there are only FEES, to the tune of $5K for the onerous cost of offering you a license plate lovingly sculpted by the skilled hands of the inmates at the State Prison... that's it.. it's right there... conveniently next to the DMV..
I’m on the waitlist for a C8 from Ciocca, doing Museum delivery-$995 currently, car will be licensed in Missouri… this thread has me wondering what to expect in additional charges?
On the convertible/coupe debate... I have found that the rain arrives so suddenly here in South Florida, often a small cell that nobody bothered to forecast, it is nice to have a button for a quick closing of the top. Also, because I am not driving fast, having the top down makes it feel like I'm going faster than in the Honda Odyssey when in reality the speed is the same. I'm very glad to have the HTC.

Added fees like a documentation fee is getting to be more of the industry standard these days. While there are some dealers that still do not charge such a fee, most around here sure do, but no where near $900. I just bought a car and the fee was $249. That said, the dealer should have told you about the doc fee at the time of your order.
