Default Need Help deciding!

Good Day All! I just placed my deposit for what a dealer believes is their last '22 model production before GM changes things to '23. They had asked I send a spec list in and sent my deposit to write everything up. I can still change things until the car goes to 2000 status . So, Big decisions. Yes, I realize everyone has their own opinions and things probably have been spoken about 10 times over.Let me describe how I will use the car and we can go from there.

First Topic, Magride:
I live near Philly, PA has absolutely terrible windy old roads. We actually get excited to see new pavement areas... Thus, looking at adding the mag ride. Some say totally worth it and noticeable and others say its not worth the $1800 at all and didnt notice a difference. But for those of you that live in hilly, windy roads that are not taken car of, is mag ride a must?

Second Topic, 1LT vs 2Lt:
Yes talked about a lot. 2LT is what I chose, but i am on the fence of just going 1LT and getting the Vert. I like the dual color options, the blind spot, heads up, and seats functions of the 2lt, but thats about it. Not sure if its worth it to go 2Lt for just that. However, it is a car I Will get rid of for the Z06, number 833 at Ciocca, so need to consider future values and I know 1Lt cars are frowned upon by a lot of buyers, but in 2 years will the 2lt still be worth $7k more than a 1lt? Not sure.

Third topic, NPP exhaust vs aftermarket:
I have ZERO need for the Z51, so not getting that, however deciding on the NPP still. I like the new MBRP exhaust and its about $1,600. I anticipate will only go down in price. However, it has no valves, not that the base exhaust comes with them anyways. But I thought it would be good to get the NPP to get the valves and live with it until they make a cheaper valved aftermarket exaust. Anyone add the NPP and thought it was worth it?

Forth and Final Topic: Wheels
I went with the Grey Trident wheels but am thinking of just keeping the stock ones to save $1500. More and more wheels are coming out and getting cheaper. I figure I can prob get $700 for just the rims on the base or, have them powder coated whatever color I want and save the $1500. So, just not sure yet. No, I will not buy a set of $4k rims... not worth it to me.

2lt for the features and resale
love the grey tridents, think they are the best GM offers,
NPP exhaust of course
No mag ride, I own a c7 with no mag ride and live in the city, potholes everywhere but the car rides amazing and I hear the c8 rides even better than the c7 so I won't get mag ride on the c8 either.

Good luck with your decision

I went with 2LT, silver trident wheels, NPP, GT2 seats and no mag ride. Of course the roads in AZ are probably far better than Philly....

1. get mag ride
2. get 2LT
3. get NPP
4. get your own wheels as the offering from GM is poor in style

My opinions in red.

But for those of you that live in hilly, windy roads that are not taken car of, is mag ride a must? Not a must but well worth the cost. Remember the mag ride sensors are monitoring road conditions every 5 milliseconds and making adjustments to the dampers when necessary. It's just not changing the stiffness of the dampers between drive modes.

Second Topic, 1LT vs 2Lt:
Yes talked about a lot. 2LT is what I chose, but i am on the fence of just going 1LT and getting the Vert. Not sure. The 2LT is a must. Why have a Corvette without all the bells and whistles. I use most features in the 2LT trim every time I drive my car. Heads up display, blind spot sensors, heated and ventilated seats, adjustable memory seats, folding mirrors, front cameras, wireless Apple CarPlay and charging, remote link, and the incredible sounding Bose 14 speakers audio system. The PDR and navigation are the only two features I don't use very often.

Another must. Get all the horse power the engine can provide. And being able to adjust the volume of the exhaust is a must have feature.

I personally would not spend an extra dime on the OEM Corvette wheels. GM really dropped the ball on the wheels. There are so many custom wheel solutions out there that look a ton better than the stock wheels. I picked the stock silver wheels for my C8 build and then upgraded to HRE Flowform FF11s. They make the C8 a totally different looking car. And don't count on getting $700 for the stock wheels. There are a lot of C8 owners that have upgraded to custom wheels and are trying to sell their stock ones. $500 is probably the best price you're going to get. I ended up selling mine to another C8 owner for $425.

There are few things worse than Philly roads. Dear lord. I have nightmares still from living there and having to drive on them.

1. Mag Ride
2. 2LT
3. NPP
4. Do not buy the wheels, there are countless better options aftermarket. Both in looks and price.

Your question is a mix of financial reform and personal preference. My thoughts on both:

Personal preference: I'm in Austin, and have a great mix of hilly, rural roads and less maintained back road in driving distance. I'm looking forward to trying mag ride. One a short loop close to me I lost interest in a 2020 Supra which felt a little skittish, while a Cayman that I tested recently felt superb (on a different loop).

Second Topic, 1LT vs 2Lt:
I know 1Lt cars are frowned upon by a lot of buyers, but in 2 years will the 2lt still be worth $7k more than a 1lt? Not sure.
Financial return: 2LT isn't worth the $7 now on the used market, never mind in 2 years. It's one of the options that doesn't retain its value. 1LT provides a better return.

Personal opinion: there are several features that I like in the 2LT package so my current build is for 2LT. However I'm on the cusp of being pushed into a 2023, with the inevitable base price increases and probably option price increases as well. I'm not sure if I'll evaluate it the same as I do today.

Forth and Final Topic: Wheels
I don't think you'll get $700 got wheels, as mentioned. $500 is the usual going rate that I'm seeing in the for sale section.

So ultimately, for financial return go 1LT with a few additional payment options as possible. Those cars aren't sitting for sale because nobody wants them. They're selling just as fast. For personal preference, I'm my current build is 2LT with mag ride, maybe Z51 and lift. We'll see how that changes in the coming months.

1) I did mag ride
2) 2LT
3) NPP
4) I saw the grey tridents in person and they are just too busy looking. I went stock and may go aftermarket but doubt it.

#1) You don't need MSRC - totally unnecessary for street driving. I know because I have it in my C7

#2) Go 1lt - you've already stated that you're interested in saving money, in several places. The $7K isn't worth the difference.

#3) NPP is great, but worth $1,600? I'd get an aftermarket application instead.

#4) Spectra stock wheels look a lot better to me than the upcharge Trident wheels.

So, there you go. Good luck 👍 in your allocation!

I'm interested in the responses especially #2, the 1LT vs 2LT.
There are some options that you get with the 2LT that I'm really interested in like the mag ride, HD rear view mirror and blind spot sensors. The heated/cooled seats I have in my truck and rarely use them. Not sure going with 14 speakers over 10 would make that much of a difference to me. Navigation? Sure, but I can use my phone or just have my wife tell me where to go. She's pretty good at that anyway. I'll pretty much be the driver so is it worth it for the additional seat adjustments? Once I position the seat it normally stays there. Test drove a 2LT before putting my deposit down and really didn't pay much attention to the HUD.

After reading all that it sounds like I'm firmly positioned for the 1LT, which is what my deposit was for, but why do I keep changing my mind and considering the 2LT?

This is definitely a mid life crisis purchase and cost is not the ultimate deciding factor. My allocation should come through late December and will have to make a final decision at that time.

Any thoughts or comment would be appreciated.

If not for the side blind zone alert, I think I'd be perfectly fine with the 1lt, but definitely would want the NPP exhaust with it.

I'd prioritize them this way, with 2LT as a given:
  1. 2LT
  2. Mag ride
  3. NPP
  4. Trident gray wheels.
Above all else, do NOT assume you'll be able to modify the order later. I know this from personal experience. So put the first order in assuming you can't change it later. Good luck!

Ordering mine as follows:

1) No MAG ride as I'm not going to track the car. Plenty of others have said they prefer the non-MAG suspensions on regular roads.
2) 2LT -- way too many options I'll use daily that will add to the overall driving experience.
3) Going with the performance exhaust. Nice to have the sound boost and performance when I need/want it.
4) Going with the Spectra-Gray Tridents. Probably the best of the factory options, but I agree with others. If chevy dropped the ball on any aspect of the car, it was the wheel offerings.

*also going with the front axle lift system, in addition to other options.
