I read somewhere that it takes a particular program (application) to enable one to watch their C8 PDR videos on their home computer. Is that true? and what is that program?
Wanted to chime in to confirm that you don't need anything fancy to view the .mp4 videos from the PDR on a computer. If you want to do analytics, you can do what @Spamburger_Hamburger mentioned above. That's definitely cool, but not necessary if you just want to see a video.
Interesting note: My windows PC could read the SD card that was formatted by my C8, but my mac could not. To fix, I formatted the SD card with my mac and didn't reformat with the C8. Now it is readable by both operating systems. Not sure if you'll run into that, but it seems like the C8 formats the cards in a weird way.

Since Microsoft "invented" the file format used by both PCs and Apple, wouldn't it be more proper to say the MAC uses a strange format rather than blame the PC format?
I use a MacBook Pro and in order to get the sound (audio) to play, I've had to use a program such as VLC to use as a player. I've only taken the card out of the car once to try it and it worked with VLC ........ just like my previous C7's.

Small point and not trying to be argumentative
I think the issue is with how the C8 formatted the SD card. If I formatted it as FAT with a windows PC or a mac, it would work. I think the C8 may have used a nonstandard FAT variation.
You weren't argumentative at all. It's a good point. Perhaps I'll run some tests this spring and see if I can figure out the exact format the C8 uses to see why it's not working as expected.

I did not have to format anything to view on my MAC. It works perfectly.

Did you format the card when you bought it? I used the formatting option from within the C8 itself which is why I think I ran into compatibility issues. I think if I left the card alone it would have worked fine. My current theory is that the C8 formats the card in a weird way.
If you did format with the option inside of your car, then perhaps something weird happened to my card originally and I'm out of ideas. Perhaps just bad luck.

Thanks for confirming. I'll try to respond to this thread in a few weeks when I get a chance to use the C8 to do a format. I'll try to pull details on what the car is doing that the card manufacturer and computers are not. I think Chevy did something funny with how they format drives and I'd like to prove it. (fortunately, if something weird is happening, it would be an easy over-the-air fix to our cars)
So here's something interesting....and perplexing....
I never did a thing to the brand new SD card and it worked perfectly in my C8 first use. I recorded a ton of videos from our 800 mile road trip and I was able to view them on my Mac with no issues whatsoever. I took the card out of my Mac and placed it back in the slot in the car and it says...."No SD card detected".....I tried it multiple times and got the same message.....WTF?
Something cool... the PDR saves GPS data which you can view on Cosworth Toolbox.
You can also see speed, lateral and longitudinal Gs, accel and brake position, and steering angle even if data overlays are not present on the original video.

^^^^I am pleased to find this thread, because I recently returned from the Ron Fellows Driving School and wanted to view my track PDR's. Plugged the SD Card into my iMac and it said "The Card Can Not Be Read By This Computer". I spent some time with Apple help and they could not figure it out other than say to re-format the card with the iMac. I have not done this yet because I know a re-format of a card with data on it, the data is likely to be lost. I have another SD card, but I don't have another computer (PC) to save off the files before a re-format. I guess I need to find someone close by with a PC!
