Default Allocations?

Hey all,

Looking to find out if anyone knows what dealers have the shortest wait for a new C8 order at MSRP? And how long are they out until you get it?

I called probably 30 dealerships in Texas the other day because I’ve been waiting 15 months and getting jerked around. I heard anywhere from 12-24 months. My suggestion would be to go to one of the big three. Their lists are a lot longer but they get so many more cars. Plus with two of them you can check online and see where you are on the list.

Best bet is to just get on the list at one or more of the bigger dealers like Ciocca, MacMulkin or Criswell. In the meantime, you can continue to make calls to smaller dealers to see if they just happen to have an allocation available.

I actually got mine a month quicker by going to a small local dealer vs MacMulkin, but their communication was TERRIBLE. With MacMulkin you can check their website at your hearts content to get status updates.

Put down deposits with Ciocca and MacMulkin and then start calling the smaller dealers. I've seen people get C8s in 4-6 months from a smaller dealer at MSRP by doing that. It's a needle in a haystack but it can be done. I got my 21 HTC in five months from the date of my initial deposit. The top two hadn't even called me yet and I saw someone who was close to my order number at MM post yesterday that they just got a TPW sometimes in late February.

Search the forum for top volume dealers. Most of the top 5 in volume got there by selling at MSRP. If you are unwilling to spend $20k to $30k over sticker (and I wasn't either) you are looking at 12 - 14 month wait with one of the large volume dealers. You might get lucky with a smaller dealer but you've got to let your fingers do the talking and start making calls. No easy button. The other thing to be aware of, is this forum is full of C8 horror stories of guys (and gals) waiting a year for their C8 only to have the dealer jack it by $30k when it arrives. The big dealers won't pull that crap. My wait was 13 months almost to the day before I got my 2022 Z51 HTC at MSRP from a top 5 dealer...gratefully it has all the electronic stuff that GM is no longer able to offer on the 2022's.

I read all the time about getting a car sooner from small dealers at MSRP. Why don't you guys who did this put the name of the dealer you got your car from? I have private messaged some of the people who got their cars right away and I have yet to find a Dealer who is selling at MSRP. So you guys out there calling around ,they are not out there anymore so quit wasting your time. You might get lucky and be at the right place at the right time. Read the post above this one. You may go into the dealership to pick up your new C8 and your car just received a price increase. If I am wrong please post the name of the dealer who is selling at MSRP. I have no dog in this fight as I am on Mike Furman's lists.

I think that is all anyone is suggesting. They are a unicorn but they do exist. I saved myself the grief, and put down a deposit with a top 5 dealer and waited patiently...ok, if I'm perfectly honest I was rather impatient at times, but its over now.

I would guess the reason you don't hear back from people is that they don't want what happened to my dealer, who got me a C8 in five months, to end up with a wait list several years long. I was reading a list on this forum this morning of the Top 100 dealers selling at MSRP and didn't see a dealer on it who I know gets allocations and sells at MSRP. I've met people who have bought C8s from this dealer at MSRP and got them quicker than I got my C8 from #7 in the world. As I said in my post, they are like finding needles in a haystack but they are out there. I'm sorry you can't find one.

When I picked up my 21 HTC at my dealer on 9/14/21, who got me the car in five months, the Sales Manager told me that his current wait list had grown so long that with his projected allocations they had sold every 2022 they would get.
