I am very happy that you got an allocation so quickly, but you are truly an exception.
Mid August to mid May [probable dealer delivery] is still 9 months to get a C8 at MSRP.
An OCD friend of mine spent 2 weeks calling OVER 100 dealers trying to get a single allocation at MSRP
and could not find one !!!!!!!!!!! He wound up ordering one from CIOCCA and one from MACMULKIN
and is going to cancel the one he does not get first. They both told him around it would be a little over a year.
Corvettes get good milage. Way better then either of my 2 trucks or my jeep wrangler. My 2 trucks are diesel, both get around 10. Jeep wrangler is v6 with 6spd manual. gets 14.
Waiting for for the prices to come down on C8's might be an exercise in futility if you have a C7 to sell or trade. I have a feeling that when the C8's are readily available, the high prices we are currently seeing on C7's will drop as well.
I’m not getting what a lot of you are posting about wait times. I walked in my local dealer (small town shop, not a major player) on August 18, 2021 and gave them a print out of the ‘22 Vette I wanted to order and gave them a deposit. At the time they did not have an allocation but told me I was the next in line. On December 27th the dealer called to tell me we had moved to 3000 status (GM sent the email on the 28th) and a couple of days ago I got the GM email saying we moved to 3400. It seems to be as easy as when we ordered the last two Corvettes (2008 and 2013 427).
Oh yeah, the deal is at msrp.
Let me explain it to you in a way you will understand. Suppose 30 people that read your post contact your dealer. How long will they have to wait? I hope this simple illustration of why it’s taking 12 months or more for most people to get their car makes it easy to understand that the chances of finding.a dealer with any open allocations (at MSRP) and next to no wait is slim to none.
Some here, may not have 5 years to wait. Especially those who have enough cash to buy it, without it hurting them financially.
And even if it DOES hurt them financially, they won't be taking ANY of it with them, so why not.
If there's 1 thing this COVID virus has taught us, is that tomorrow isn't guaranteed...
COVID Scam you mean ...

I'm with you. Wait until gas prices hit $5 to $7 then we should be able to buy below MSRP. Only week out from here.
Crude continues to drop ... not sure where you are getting your data to make predictions but ... I sense 12 months from now gas will be back to 2019 prices - hovering over and at $1.98/gal for regular (I quote regular as then was not filling up a vet and do not know what Premium was selling for)

The original OP was in 2022. Not sure why anyone felt the need to resurrect a zombie post.
