Default Not buying until normal availability

I don't know about the rest of you but I'm not buying a C8 until I can do it at a normal price with a choice of cars.

Until then, I'm just enjoying my C7. I don't get to drive that much in the pandemic anyway.

My position is any overpayment is just flushing money down the toilet. It will feel just as good when I buy one off the lot in another year or two as it would today. Based on the few I see on the road; I'll still be one of the first to have one.

Some here, may not have 5 years to wait. Especially those who have enough cash to buy it, without it hurting them financially.
And even if it DOES hurt them financially, they won't be taking ANY of it with them, so why not.

year wait from now to get at msrp. Used car market is nuts. I got a c7 off the lot at a great price in 2016 so it has retained its value so the total price of the exchange is not to bad. The c8 equipped about the same as the C7 is about 10-15000 more unfortunately but not getting any younger.

I got on Mike F list 13 months ago. My HTC will be built next week, 2/10/22. Honestly the wait went fast, but it was a very busy year.

It was built 2/11/22. At museum now and I get it 3/3/22 in the morning. Long wait but worth it.

What some don’t take into account is your C7 is worth $10K plus more then it should be. In many cases it balances the increased price paid. I just bought a Wrangler 392, I ordered/waited and didn’t pay an ADM, but what really made it such a great deal for me is my 2019 Ram Limited I got $48K trade, add in the tax savings and that equals nearly $52K. I paid under $55K for it new. My point is I would argue used cars are overpriced more then most new cars.

Good luck either way, I’ve thought about ordering a C8 multiple times, I’m debating doing so again.

Back in 2019, I was deciding whether to order a 2020 1st year C8 or get a 2019 Grand Sport. I was given the following advice by people in the know which I heeded... Get the 2019 at the discount, wait for them to get the bugs out of the C8 and in 3 years, you will most likely get the C8 at a discount and it will be a better car.

I never saw the supply and demand issue the way it is today. Most of the volume dealers still have a 12 to 18 month wait list and it's not getting any shorter. In the meantime, the factory is pumping out everything they can in the face of one calamity after another. With the Z06 on the immediate horizon, the base C8 will be available in an even lesser quantity and the waiting line keeps getting longer.

I really don't see a point in the near future where C8's will be on dealer lots and being sold at a discount. With the wait lists as long as they are, the soonest this could theoretically happen is 2 calendar years out and I don't see that as even being realistic.

If you get on a wait list today at MSRP, you will be lucky to get a 2024 model year car (that's 5 model years since the inception of the car) in a space of 4 calendar years.

If time is on your side, I can see waiting it out and enjoy a C7 or older car but if you are getting up in age and want a new vette...there is no point in waiting if you can afford it financially.

I’m not getting what a lot of you are posting about wait times. I walked in my local dealer (small town shop, not a major player) on August 18, 2021 and gave them a print out of the ‘22 Vette I wanted to order and gave them a deposit. At the time they did not have an allocation but told me I was the next in line. On December 27th the dealer called to tell me we had moved to 3000 status (GM sent the email on the 28th) and a couple of days ago I got the GM email saying we moved to 3400. It seems to be as easy as when we ordered the last two Corvettes (2008 and 2013 427).

Oh yeah, the deal is at msrp.

Thats great, but it is not the norm. You went Aug of 21. I went to my small town dealer today 2/10/22. Less than 1200 people in this town They get about 10 allocations a year. They have 12 people with deposits on stingrays and 6 people with deposits on Z06. The salesman was honest and said some of these people will be waiting 24 months and will prob get a 2025 car. All sales at MSRP

[QUOTE=conecrusher;1604667548]A C8 is absolutely in my future- just a matter of when. Me as well, however, when I attempted to trade my GS Vert. (in immaculate condition) and/or sell my Vert. and buy outright - no go. I couldn't move the dealer off inflated MSRP price. I had numerous potential buyers for the C6, but the dealer REALLY wanted the GS. Negotiations were in vain, so I guess the C6 will be gracing my garage awhile longer! Best of luck with your buying experiences going forward. Bronk

I agree 100%. I will not pay a dealer added mark up. In fact I want to buy a new truck to replace my Audi and they are asking $5K to $10K extra for a truck! I laughed and walked out.

Unfortunately it doesn't appear they're going to be building these Corvettes in anywhere close to the volume of previous generations - this has to be in part their plan. I've been holding the same position for a year and half now and I wish I had just dropped the 1-3k for a deposit and forgot about it. I'd have one by now..

Frustrating to say the least though. Atleast you have the C7 to hold you over
