There are modules that will work with LED lights, but you'd have to remove the rear fascia and splice wires, since I doubt there are any plug and play ones. Whether they'll work specifically with the C8s you'd have to find out, but I don't see why not.
As mentioned, a forum member found a way to splice into a PC board in the passenger area in a C7.
Wonder if the third brake light wires are accessible by pulling back the Trunk liner as the Tech did to repair my motorized pulldown? However, the need to do is not sufficiently compelling for me to find them (even if accessible) and start cutting and splicing! However, if someone does and defines how, I'd do it! Still will use my MO if stopping for a red light etc, of looking in my TV Mirror and if there is a car behind I slow to a crawl ~100 feet before I stop. Ticks off some who just can't wait to look and see who sent a text message when they heard a beep! In SC it's legal to look at your phone when stopped. See people do it all the time when stopped and when the light turns green are so wrapped up in whatever useless texting they just sit there! Ridiculous how some are so tied to their phone they can't live without it!

That's what I was hoping for before I got my C8. I paid close attention to all the pictures I could find of the rear facia removed and there's a bulkhead between the trunk liner and wiring for the lights. Removal of the facia is the only way to get to them, (unless they're accessible from somewhere else in the car). When the dealership installed my high wing I thought about doing it then, but I figured if the module ever failed I didn't want to have to remove the facia to replace it.
This is the only car I’ve owned with memory seats on the passenger side and they decide to save money on 6 led bulbs?
They said the memory seats on that side were done for the right-hand drive model, and they decided it was simpler to just do all cars with both. And memory seating is something customers will notice. The CHMSL? Not many will pay any attention as long as it lights up.
Just and observation but the third brake light is as low as the standard brake lights. Kind of defeats the purpose? I thought they were supposed to be mounted "high(er)" so cars that are a few cars back might see that you are braking.

It's a little bit higher, but not much. The regs say it must be at least 34" above the ground, and no lower than 3 inches below the rear window (except convertibles can be 6 inches below the rear window).
NHTSA commissioned a study (done with taxi cabs in San Francisco, IIRC) that compared multiple locations for the CHMSL, including 1 center mounted one, two higher mounted ones in the rear window, and different heights. I guess they found that having a 3rd light in the center made more difference than the height.
I was driving behind a C7 the other day and noticed his center row brake light “flashed” about 3 times before remaining solid when he applied his brakes. Is this unique to the C7….or an aftermarket modification?
youd have to press the brake pedal to light them- In a 991 had a PDK that i used to slow the car and someone pulled up next to me in traffic and told me my brake lights were out-

Aftermarket. Buy 'em on EBay or Amazon. Very inexpensive.
Yep the modules are getting so cheap many selling in lots of 4 on Amazon. Saw 2 for $6!
Paragon is Plug and Play After you remove the bumper! (Smart, as they did to use a fellow that MC's the Video who was "calm". Being very calm makes it sound easy! )
For my C6 it was a Plug and Play similar to their C8 Module BUT access was by removing a taillight lens.
For my C7's there was a way to splice into the PC Board on the passenger side. Didn't want to screw up that board so never did.
If I had a reason to remove the bumper would consider buying a ~$5 system and splicing . Never had a need on my 2020 and hope I don't with the E-Ray. But if someone posted the circuit i.e. where to cut and splice in the flashers 4 wires, would buy a flashing circuit module and be ready!

Completely agree Jerry, but not having a lot of faith in a $5 unit, (even though that's what I would buy), I would drill a small hole thru the bulkhead and run the wires between the trunk liner and bulkhead so if/when I had to replace the $5 unit I wouldn't have to remove the fascia again, only the trunk liner to gain access.

I bought 6 of these on Amazon for less than $5 each 4 years ago. Have them in every car we own. They work better than the Paragon unit, as they strobe 6 times, then go solid. Have had zero issues with them.
On the C8,
It's the same procedure removing the rear bumper, and clipping 2 wires (12V+ and ground) and splice in the module. EZPZ

Yep, Amazon is getting as bad as eBay re not sure what you're getting. I've had issues with top of the line Brand Name Flash drives, SD Cards and Batteries. Have a few remotes that use small 12 volt batteries. Last year bought a pack of 6 with Polaroid Brand. The remote for our fireplace gas logs stopped working. First time using in ^ months. Checked and that ~one year old battery read low on a quality meter I have used for years that loads each battery for it's typical current draw. Had 4 left in the package and all read low. Put in a new Eveready I bought locally that was in the full strength range on the meter. Motor that regulates gas flow working fine.
